A godly is the weapon everyone in Murder Mystery 2 wants. There are 121 of them in the game, 76 knives and 45 guns, and most players spend thousands of coins opening boxes hoping one drops. The odds are rough: a godly shows up in about 1 in 500 boxes.
Here is the part almost nobody tells you. There is a way to get a godly that is guaranteed and needs no Robux. It also works out about 2.5 times cheaper than gambling on boxes. This page walks through both routes with the real numbers, so you can pick the one that fits how you play.
Quick answer: Boxes give a godly about 0.2% of the time, which is 1 in 500. Crafting a Seer costs around 200,000 coins and always works. Chasing a box godly costs about 500,000 coins on average, and can still give you nothing.
The four ways to get a godly
Every godly in the game comes from one of four places. We went through all 121 and counted where each one originally came from.
| Way |
How many godlies |
What it means |
| Bought with Robux |
59 |
Came from a gamepass or an event bundle. Most are long gone, so you can only trade for them now. |
| Unboxed |
35 |
Dropped from a box. Only 12 of these come from the 11 boxes you can still open today. |
| Crafted |
12 |
Made at the crafting station. Only Seer and the painted Seers can still be crafted. |
| Event reward |
10 |
Earned by playing a limited-time event. |
| Trading only |
5 |
Never had any other source. Trading is the only way. |
Read that first row carefully: 59 of the 121 godlies first showed up in a Robux gamepass or an event bundle. Almost all of those events are over, so nobody can buy them now. Trading is the only way to get those, and that is why they cost so much in trades.
What a box actually drops
Every box in the shop costs the same: 1,000 coins, or 100 diamonds, or 1 Mystery Key. Every box also uses the same odds. Here is what you are really paying for.
| Rarity |
Chance |
What that means |
| Common |
70% |
About 7 out of every 10 boxes. |
| Uncommon |
15% |
About 1 in 7 boxes. |
| Rare |
10% |
About 1 in 10 boxes. |
| Legendary |
5% |
About 1 in 20 boxes. |
| Godly |
0.2% |
About 1 in 500 boxes. |
Being honest about the godly number: Murder Mystery 2 does not officially publish godly odds. The pages for each box just say the chance is unknown. The 0.2% figure comes from the game wiki. The other four rarities are published and we checked them on two separate sets of pages.
Because every box shares the same price and the same odds, there is no such thing as a lucky box. Pick the box that holds the godly you want.
Which box drops which godly
There are 11 boxes you can open right now: 5 knife boxes, 3 gun boxes, 2 mystery boxes and the Rainbow Box. Between them they hold 12 godlies. Each one also has a chroma version inside, which is even rarer.

The guaranteed route: craft a Seer
The crafting station is in your inventory. Click the view button in the bottom right corner to open it. You feed it shards, which you get by salvaging weapons you do not want.
Salvaging a common, uncommon, rare or legendary weapon gives you 2 shards of that rarity. Those shards climb the ladder.
| What you craft |
What it costs |
Where the shards come from |
| Random uncommon weapon |
12 common shards |
Salvage 6 common weapons. |
| Random rare weapon |
12 uncommon shards |
Salvage 6 uncommon weapons. |
| Random legendary weapon |
12 rare shards |
Salvage 6 rare weapons. |
| Seer (a godly knife) |
20 legendary shards |
Salvage 10 legendary weapons. |
| Random painted Seer |
10 godly shards and 10 godly metal |
Salvage godlies and Seers. |
The important row is the Seer. 20 legendary shards makes a Seer, and a Seer is a tier 0 godly, the rarest tier in the game. Since salvaging gives 2 shards, you need to salvage 10 legendary weapons. There is no luck involved. Once you have the shards, you get the Seer.
Then it keeps going: salvaging a Seer gives 1 godly metal. Collect 10 godly shards and 10 godly metal to craft a random painted Seer. It can come out red, orange, yellow, blue, purple, or even Chroma Seer.
Why crafting is cheaper, with the numbers
Both routes start the same way, by buying boxes at 1,000 coins each. The difference is what you are aiming for.
- Crafting a Seer. You need 10 legendary weapons. Legendaries drop 5% of the time, so that is about 20 boxes per legendary, or 200 boxes. At 1,000 coins each that is about 200,000 coins, and you are certain to finish with a Seer.
- Chasing a box godly. A godly drops about 1 in 500 boxes, so on average that is 500 boxes, or about 500,000 coins. And average is not a promise. You could open 800 and get nothing.
So the craft route costs roughly 2.5 times less and removes the luck completely. The catch is that you have to salvage weapons instead of keeping them, and it takes patience.
One thing to remember: these are averages worked out from the drop rates, not a promise from the game. Some players get a godly in 50 boxes. Others open far more than 500. That is how random drops work.
Godly tiers, from rarest down
Godlies are sorted into tiers. A lower tier number means rarer and usually worth more in a trade.
| Tier |
How many |
What is in it |
| Tier 0 |
8 |
The rarest godlies. Every Seer sits here. |
| Tier 1 |
32 |
Strong older godlies like Deathshard, Fang and Saw. |
| Tier 2 |
42 |
The biggest group, including most box godlies. |
| Tier 3 |
39 |
Newer event and bundle godlies. |
All 8 tier 0 godlies are Seers, which is another reason the craft route is so good. You are not making a weak godly, you are making one from the top tier.
How to get coins faster
Both routes need coins, so this is the real bottleneck. You collect coins from the maps during rounds, and you can hold up to 40 per round, or 50 with the Elite gamepass. Filling your bag also gives you bonus XP.
Play as many full rounds as you can, pick up every coin you walk past, and redeem codes when new ones drop. Codes are the fastest free boost.
Trading for a godly
Trading is how most rare godlies move around, because so many of them came from events that already ended. If you go this route, learn what your items are actually worth before you accept anything.
Never trade because someone is rushing you. A fair trade still looks fair after you have taken a minute to think about it.
Check our MM2 value list before you trade. It explains the godly tier system and what actually drives an item’s worth.
Murder Mystery 2 godly FAQ
How do you get a godly in Murder Mystery 2?
There are four ways: unbox one from a box, craft a Seer at the crafting station, earn one from an event, or trade for one. Crafting is the only way that is guaranteed.
What are the odds of getting a godly from a box?
About 0.2%, which is roughly 1 in 500 boxes. Murder Mystery 2 does not officially publish godly odds, so this is the figure the game wiki lists. The other rarities are published: common 70%, uncommon 15%, rare 10% and legendary 5%.
How do you get a free godly in MM2?
Craft a Seer. You need 20 legendary shards, and salvaging one legendary weapon gives you 2 shards, so you need to salvage 10 legendary weapons. It costs no Robux at all, just coins and time.
Is it cheaper to craft or to unbox a godly?
Crafting, by a lot. Ten legendary weapons take about 200 boxes, which is around 200,000 coins, and you are certain to get a Seer. Chasing a box godly at 1 in 500 costs about 500,000 coins on average, and you might still walk away with nothing.
How many godly weapons are in MM2?
121 as of this update, made up of 76 knives and 45 guns. We counted them from the game wiki’s own list. The wiki’s summary line still says 120, but its table has 121 entries.
What is the best box in MM2?
Every box costs the same and every box has the same odds, so no box is better for getting a godly. Pick the box that holds the godly you actually want. Knife Box 1 gives Deathshard, Mystery Box 1 gives Gemstone, and so on.
Can you still craft Flames or Handsaw?
No. Those recipes were removed from the crafting station. The only godlies you can craft today are Seer and the painted Seers, which include Chroma Seer.
What is a chroma godly?
A chroma is a colour changing version of a godly. Every box has a chroma version of its godly inside, but the chance of unboxing one is even lower than a normal godly.
