Anime Vanguards Tier List
“Which units should you summon and build a team around?”
Last Updated: July 2026
In Anime Vanguards, the units you summon decide how far you get. But this is a team game, so the best players do not just chase one unit, they build a balanced team around a carry.
Anime Vanguards is one of the biggest tower defense games on Roblox, with nearly 2 billion visits and around 28,000 players at once, and the meta shifts with every big update and event.
This guide ranks every meta unit, names the best unit for each role, and shows the exact team to aim for. New here? Our Anime Vanguards wiki covers the basics and the Anime Vanguards codes page lists free Gems.
The Quick Answer
The two best units in the game are God (Above Heaven) for wave-clearing AoE and Rogita (Super 4) for boss damage. But do not stop there: pair a carry with Demon Leader (Control) for economy and Ice Queen (Release) to stall, and you have a team that clears almost anything.
How Units Work
Three systems decide how strong a unit actually is, so keep these in mind before you judge any ranking.
1
Rarity sets the ceiling. Units run from Rare up through Epic, Legendary, Mythic, Secret, Vanguard, and Exclusive. The rarest units are almost always the strongest, but also the hardest to summon.
2
Evolutions are everything. Almost every top unit is an evolved form, like Rogita becoming Rogita (Super 4). A tier list always assumes the evolved version, so never judge a unit by its base stats.
3
Traits boost your best units. Units can roll traits like Monarch or Deadeye that raise range and damage. Reroll traits on your carries to squeeze out more power.
Anime Vanguards Tier List
Here is every meta unit sorted into tiers, based on its evolved form and current performance in endgame content.
| Tier |
Units |
Why they rank here |
| SS |
Demon Leader (Control), God (Above Heaven), Rogita (Super 4), Ice Queen (Release), Gojo (Infinity), Lich King (Ruler), Song Jinwu and Igros, Alocard (Vampire King) |
The meta-defining units that clear the hardest content. God and Rogita are the top carries, while Demon Leader and Ice Queen make any team run smoother. |
| S |
Demon Hybrid (Chainsaw), Diablo (Renacimiento), Divalo (Requiem), Conqueror, Savior (Rebirth), Quetzalcoatl (Sun God), Shinobi Sage (Friendship), Skele King (Rock), Teacher (Final Stand), Lord Friezo (Emperor), Iscanur (Pride), Koguro (Unsealed), Renguko (Purgatory), Pink Villain (Celestial), Hollowseph (Pure), Okorun (Turbo), Explosive Demon (Bomb), Cursed Shinobi (Black Flames) |
Strong, well-rounded units that carry you through almost all content. Any of these is a great pick if you have not pulled an SS unit yet. |
| A |
Igros (Elite Knight), Slime (King), Saber (Black Tyrant), Astolfo (Rider of Black), Fastest Shinobi (Flash), Ice Manipulator (Admiral), Company Captain (Hybrid), Armored Mage (Requip), Elastic Captain (Pirate), Delusional Demon (Blood), Deceiver (Monster), Horsegirls (Racers) |
Solid mid-game units. They do real work while you build toward an S or SS carry, and several are easy to obtain early. |
| B |
Warlord (Of the Sea), Fallen Angel (Pistols) |
Playable in a pinch, but outclassed by A-tier options once you can evolve them or pull something better. |
| C |
Manipulator (Spider) |
Situational only. Fine for very early Story stages, then replace it. |
| D |
Gazelle (Zombie), Leo (Fangs) |
Starter-level units. Use them to get going, then move on as soon as you can. |
Best Unit for Each Role
A good team needs more than raw damage. Here is the single best unit for each job on your team.
| Role |
Best unit |
Why |
| AoE / crowd control |
God (Above Heaven) |
A reality-altering nuke that time-stops and clears whole waves. |
| Single-target / boss |
Rogita (Super 4) |
The ultimate boss-killer, built to melt single high-HP targets. |
| Stall |
Ice Queen (Release) |
A guaranteed AoE freeze passive that buys your carries time. |
| Economy / support |
Demon Leader (Control) |
Cuts placement cost and buffs chained allies by 30 percent. |
| Beginner carry |
Igros (Elite Knight) |
Strong, obtainable early, and evolves into a real workhorse. |
| All-around carry |
God (Above Heaven) |
If you pull one unit, this is the one that does everything. |
The Meta Team to Build Toward
This is the part most tier lists skip. Anime Vanguards is won with a balanced team, not a single unit. Aim for one of each role below, and you can clear nearly all of the game’s content.
| Role |
Unit |
Its job on the team |
| Economy / support |
Demon Leader (Control) |
Place this first. It lowers the cost of your other units and buffs them, so you field your carries faster. |
| AoE carry |
God (Above Heaven) |
Your main wave-clear. It deletes groups of enemies and locks the map down with time-stop. |
| Boss DPS |
Rogita (Super 4) |
Your single-target answer for bosses that God cannot burst down alone. |
| Stall |
Ice Queen (Release) |
Freezes enemies so your carries get extra hits in on tough waves and boss rushes. |
You will not have all four right away, and that is fine. Start with one strong carry (God or Rogita), add Demon Leader for economy as soon as you can, then slot in a stall unit. Fill the last spot with your next best S-tier unit.
A balanced team needs one strong unit in each of these roles.
How to Summon Smart
Gems are hard to earn, so here is how to spend your summons wisely instead of rolling blindly.
- Only summon on the current meta banner. Banners feature different units, so save your Gems for one that includes a unit in the SS or S tier above.
- Evolve before you re-summon. An evolved A-tier unit often beats an un-evolved S-tier one, so finish your evolutions before chasing new pulls.
- Build the team, not the collection. Four strong units in the right roles beat a bench full of random carries. Fill your role gaps first.
- Do not skip Demon Leader. An economy unit makes every other unit come out faster, which is often a bigger upgrade than one more carry.
- Stock up on Gems first. Grab every free Gem from the Anime Vanguards codes page before a big banner drops.
Anime Vanguards updates often, and the current Extermination Event and recent Eternal Adversaries update added powerful new Vanguard and Secret units that shape the meta. Tiers shift with every major update, so we keep this page current. Check the Anime Vanguards codes page for free Gems before each new banner.
Tips for Climbing the Meta
- Farm evolution materials in raids and dungeons so your best units are always fully evolved.
- Reroll traits on your main carry. A great trait can be the difference between an A and an S unit in practice.
- Do not bench your economy unit to fit another carry. Economy wins hard modes.
- Claim free Gems from the Anime Vanguards codes page before every big summon session.
