Clear the Roblox Cache
“A quick clean-up that can fix lag, crashes, and slow loading on any device.”
Last Updated: June 2026
Every time you play Roblox, your device saves little bits of game data so things load faster next time. That saved pile of data is called the cache.
The cache is helpful, but after a while it can get messy or too big. When that happens, Roblox might feel slow, freeze, look glitchy, or crash for no clear reason.
Clearing the cache just deletes those temporary files. It is completely safe and never touches your account, your Robux, or your game progress, because all of that is saved online.
Each device clears the cache in a slightly different spot, so we will walk through Windows, Mac, Android, iPhone or iPad, and Xbox one at a time.
Well, here is the easy way to clear the Roblox cache and get the game running smoothly again.
The Quick Answer
You clear the Roblox cache through your device, not from inside the game. On Windows, close Roblox, press Windows + R, type %Temp%\Roblox, and delete the files. On Android, go to Settings > Apps > Roblox > Storage > Clear cache. On an iPhone, offload the app and reinstall it. Clearing the cache is safe and never deletes your account or progress.
How to Clear the Roblox Cache
1
Close Roblox all the way first
Before you clear anything, make sure Roblox is fully shut down, not just minimized.
– On a computer, close the game and the Roblox app window completely
– On a phone or tablet, swipe the app away from your recent apps
– This stops the game from rebuilding the old files while you delete them
2
Clear the cache on Windows PC
Windows keeps the cache in a hidden temporary folder that is easy to open.
– Press the Windows key + R at the same time to open the Run box
– Type %Temp%\Roblox and press Enter, then press Ctrl + A and delete everything inside
– Empty your Recycle Bin, and if the game is still slow, also clear the Logs folder inside %localappdata%\Roblox
3
Clear the cache on a Mac
On a Mac the cache lives in your Library folder, which is hidden by default.
– Open Finder, click the Go menu at the top, and hold the Option key to show Library
– Open the Caches folder, find any folder named Roblox, and move it to the Trash
– Empty the Trash, then open Roblox again so it can build a fresh cache
4
Clear the cache on Android
Android phones and tablets have a built-in Clear cache button, so this one is quick.
– Open Settings and tap Apps (or App management)
– Find and tap Roblox, then tap Storage
– Tap Clear cache. Do not tap Clear storage or Clear data, since that would log you out
5
Clear the cache on iPhone or iPad
Apple devices do not have a Clear cache button, so you refresh the app instead.
– Open Settings, tap General, then iPhone Storage (or iPad Storage)
– Tap Roblox, then tap Offload App to clear the temporary files but keep your details
– Tap Reinstall App, or simply delete Roblox and download it again from the App Store for a totally fresh start
6
Clear the cache on Xbox (and what to do if it is still slow)
On Xbox you cannot open files, so you fully close and reload the app instead.
– Highlight Roblox on the home screen, press the Menu button, and choose Quit so it is not just paused
– Wait a few seconds, then open Roblox again. For a deeper clean, uninstall and reinstall it
If the game is still laggy after clearing the cache, it may simply be out of date, so try our guide to updating Roblox. A clean cache and the newest version together fix most slowdowns. Feel free to message us if it still will not behave.
Clearing the Roblox Cache FAQ
Is it safe to clear the Roblox cache?
Yes, it is completely safe. The cache is just temporary files, so deleting it never harms your account or your device. Roblox builds a fresh cache the next time you play.
Will clearing the cache delete my account or progress?
No. Your account, Robux, friends, and game progress are all saved on Roblox servers, not in the cache. Clearing the cache cannot delete any of them.
Why should I clear my Roblox cache?
A messy cache can cause lag, slow loading, glitchy graphics, crashes, and some loading and disconnect errors. Clearing it gives the game a clean, fresh start.
How do I clear the Roblox cache on Windows?
Close Roblox, press Windows + R, type %Temp%\Roblox, and press Enter. Then press Ctrl + A to select everything and delete it, and empty your Recycle Bin.
How do I clear the Roblox cache on an iPhone?
iPhones do not have a Clear cache button, so you offload or delete the Roblox app and reinstall it. That gives you a clean, fresh copy with no old files.
How often should I clear my Roblox cache?
Only when you notice a problem like lag, crashing, or slow loading. There is no need to do it on a schedule, so once in a while is plenty.
