Eclipsed is the top mutation at 80x, but it is one of the hardest to get because the Eclipse weather is rare. Gold and Rainbow are the easiest big mutations, since you can guarantee them with a Gold Seed or Rainbow Seed.

How Mutations Work

Before you chase mutations, it helps to know the rules. They are simple once you see them, and they change how you should play.

One at a time. Each crop can hold only one mutation. If a crop gets a new mutation, it replaces the old one. Mutations do not stack in this game.
Rolled when you harvest. Most mutations are decided the moment you pick the crop. When you harvest during a weather event, the game gives the crop one last chance to catch that weather mutation.
Low base chance. Most weather mutations have about a 1% chance each time you harvest during the event. Rainbow and Electric are rarer, around a 0.33% chance.
Only a few can grow in. Gold and Rainbow can show up while a crop is still growing. The rest only appear at harvest, so timing your pickup matters.

How to Get Mutations From Weather

Weather is the main way to get mutations. Every server has the same weather at the same time, so when an event starts, it is a good moment to harvest. Here is how often each weather rolls and what it does.

Rain does not give a mutation, but it is still great because it makes crops grow twice as fast. The rare weather events, like Sunburst and Eclipse, give the biggest mutations, so try to have crops ready to harvest when one starts.

Mutations at Night and Moons

When night falls, one of five moons appears, and this is when stealing starts too. Some moons bring their own mutation or drop special seeds. Here are the moon chances during a night.

The Single-Harvest Catch (Money Tip)

Here is the tip most guides skip, and it can save you from wasting a great mutation. The full multiplier only counts on multi-harvest crops, which are the crops that keep making fruit again and again.

On a single-harvest crop, the one you pick just once, the game shrinks the mutation bonus. It uses this rule: your extra value equals 1 plus the multiplier minus 1, times 0.15. In plain terms, big mutations lose most of their power on single-harvest crops.

What to do: save your best mutations, like Eclipsed and Bloodlit, for multi-harvest crops so you get the full multiplier. Your sell price also goes up by 10% for each friend playing on your server, so farm with friends when you can.

How to Get Mutations More Often

Mutations are mostly luck, but you can tip the odds in your favor. Here are the best ways to see more of them.

Plant special seeds. A Gold Seed gives a guaranteed Gold crop, and a Rainbow Seed gives a guaranteed Rainbow crop. You get these seeds from Gold Moons and Rainbow Moons, or from the shop.
Use mutation pets. Some pets, like the Unicorn and the Golden Dragonfly, quietly raise the mutation chance of every crop in your garden.
Harvest during events. The best time to pick crops is right when a weather event or a special moon is happening, since that is your chance to catch the mutation.
Grow a lot at once. Since each harvest has a small chance, a big garden full of crops means more rolls and more mutations.
