Math Murder is a maths quiz with a countdown attached. A sum goes up on a screen in a classroom, a clock starts on the wall, and you answer before it runs out or you are out of the round. Servers hold eight and the last one still standing wins.

It opened in January 2025 and has passed 131 million visits, which makes it one of the biggest education games on Roblox. This page has how a round works, what those 10,000 questions really are, the studio’s other game, and one number here that runs the opposite way to every game we have written up this month.

How to Play Math Murder

There is nothing to unlock and nothing to buy. You walk in and you are playing, which is unusual for a game this size.

Join and wait for the round to start. There is no lobby to buy anything in, because there is nothing for sale.
Watch the board. The sum appears on a screen in the classroom and the clock starts at the same moment.
Read the sign, not just the numbers. Every question is two whole numbers with a plus, minus, times or divide between them.
Type your answer and send it. Speed matters more than the sum does, because the clock is the thing that beats most people.
Get it wrong or run out of time and you are out for that round.
Keep going as the timer shrinks. The questions do not get harder so much as the window to answer gets smaller.
Last one standing wins the round, and a new one starts.

A typical round lasts about five minutes. The clock is the real opponent, not the arithmetic.

Math Murder Gameplay: What the 10,000 Questions Are

The game page advertises 10,000 maths questions. That sounds like a lot until you see the shape of them.

Every single one is two whole numbers with one sign between them, and the sign is plus, minus, times or divide. That is the entire range.

There are no brackets, no fractions, no decimals and no word problems anywhere in the set. The hardest thing you will be shown is one multiplication.

That changes what the game actually tests. It is not really a maths test, it is a speed test with sums in it.

Which is good news if you want to get better. Learn your times tables up to twelve, and practise typing numbers quickly, and you will beat most rooms you land in.

Two things stand out. The first is the rating. About 92 in every 100 votes here are likes, from nearly 178,000 votes, and that is the best of any game we have written up recently.

The second is stranger. This game has fewer favorites than it has votes, at about 0.6 favorites for every vote.

Almost every game runs the other way, and some run wildly the other way. Two we looked at this month sit at 110 and 222 favorites per vote.

One thing on the page may be part of it. This game asks players to like it for updates, so it asks for the vote rather than the save. The games at the far end of that table either ask for a favorite or ask for nothing at all.

We are not going to invent a fuller reason than that. It is worth knowing when you compare this game’s favorite count against something else.

A Game With Nothing In It To Sell

This is one of the leanest games we have covered. It has no gamepasses, no badges, no currency and only one room.

There is not a single thing on the game page that costs Robux. For something with 131 million visits behind it, that is close to unheard of.

It has also never changed its name. Saved copies of the page go back to January 2025 and it has been called the same thing on every one of them, with no update tags stuck on the front.

The Studio Made the Spelling Version First

The group behind this is called Spelling Studios, it is verified, and it has more than 770,000 members. The name is a clue to the order things happened in.

Its other game is Scary Spelling, and that one opened on 29 December 2024. Math Murder followed on 15 January 2025, about two and a half weeks later.

So the spelling game came first and the maths game is the same idea with the subject swapped. Scary Spelling has passed 67 million visits of its own.

Between them the studio has two games and just under 200 million visits, from a group whose page carries no description at all.

Tips for New Math Murder Players

Learn your times tables up to twelve. Multiplication is the only part of this game that slows people down.
Practise typing numbers without looking. The clock beats far more people than the sums do.
Read the sign first, not the numbers. Mixing up times and plus under a countdown is the most common mistake there is.
Do not panic on division. Every one of them divides cleanly, because the answers are whole numbers.
Stay calm as the timer shrinks. The questions stay the same size, so the only thing changing is your window.
Do not bother shopping. There is nothing for sale, so nobody in your server has bought an advantage.
