Tower Defense Simulator Tier List
“Which towers actually hold the line, wave after wave?”
Last Updated: July 2026
Tower Defense Simulator has been one of the biggest strategy games on Roblox since 2019, and it is still pulling tens of thousands of players at once with a fresh seasonal event live right now.
Dozens of towers are unlockable, and picking the wrong ones early wastes cash you will never get back. A good tier list saves you that pain.
TDS just went through a real rebalance patch, so a lot of tier list sites online disagree hard on where specific towers land. We cross-checked several of them to find the picks that actually hold up no matter who is doing the ranking.
New to the game? Our Tower Defense Simulator wiki covers the basics, and the TDS codes page lists any free coins you can claim.
Here is the current tower ladder, the best pick for every job, and exactly where sources stop agreeing.
The Quick Answer
Only three towers land near the top on every tracker: Accelerator (the highest raw DPS in the game), Golden Cowboy, and Golden Scout (both prized for Hidden and Lead detection). For value picks, Golden Minigunner and Golden Crook Boss post the best damage-per-dollar numbers of any tower. A recent rebalance means everything else, including fan favorites like Commander and Turret, swings wildly depending on which site you check.
Tower Defense Simulator Tier List
The ladder below follows the strongest cross-source consensus we could find as of July 2026. TDS has dozens of towers, so each tier lists the standouts rather than every name.
S
Accelerator, Golden Cowboy, Golden Scout
The only three towers that land near the top on every tracker we checked. Accelerator posts the highest raw DPS in the game (364 at level 50) and is close to mandatory for Fallen mode, while Golden Cowboy and Golden Scout combine strong damage with Hidden and Lead detection, which most maps require somewhere on the field.
A
Golden Pyromancer, Mortar, Golden Minigunner, Golden Crook Boss
Strong, reliable picks even though their exact letter grade jumps around by source. Golden Minigunner and Golden Crook Boss both post real cost-efficiency numbers (5.84 and 4.77 DPS per $1K spent) that make them excellent budget carries once you can afford the golden skin.
B
Freezer, Sniper, Hunter, Electroshocker
Solid utility that never quite tops a list but always earns its slot. Freezer and Electroshocker slow or stun groups, Sniper and Hunter pick off single hard targets from range, and all four are cheap enough to run alongside a real damage carry.
C
Scout, Ranger, Demoman, Militant
The early-game core. These are the towers you place before you have real cash saved up, and every one of them gets outclassed the moment you can afford a golden skin or a true late-game carry.
Why TDS tier lists disagree so much right now
A May 2026 rebalance patch (v1.91.6) shook up the meta hard, and different sites have not caught up at the same pace. Commander swings from an S-plus “game-defining” pick on one tracker to a C-tier dud on another. Turret, DJ Booth, and Rocketeer swing between S and D depending on the source, and even Golden Pyromancer, usually a safe top pick, drops all the way to C on one list. Only Accelerator, Golden Cowboy, and Golden Scout stayed near the top everywhere we checked. Treat those three as the safe bet and test anything else yourself before you spend real cash upgrading it.
How towers actually scale
Every tower starts as a base version and upgrades through levels using cash earned from kills. Some towers also have a golden skin, unlocked separately, which usually adds a real stat boost on top of the visual change, not just a reskin.
Two named stats matter more than raw damage once you dig in: DPS per dollar spent (which tower earns back its cost fastest) and whether a tower can see Hidden and Lead enemies, since plenty of late-wave enemies are invisible to towers without that detection.
Green rows are cheap and easy to slot in early. Gold rows are the towers worth saving up for.
Best Towers by What You Need
| What you need |
Best towers |
Why |
| Damage carry |
Accelerator, Gatling Gun |
Accelerator posts the highest DPS in the game at 364 per second at level 50, and Gatling Gun tops it in raw output late-game once you can afford its 35,000 coin, level 175 upgrade. |
| Support and buffs |
Commander, DJ Booth |
Stacked behind your damage carries, this pair reportedly boosts nearby DPS by 150 to 200 percent, which is why they show up in nearly every serious loadout even when their solo tier grade is contested. |
| Economy |
Farm |
Farm generates the cash that pays for everything else, and placing one before you need the money always beats scrambling for coins mid-wave. |
| Hidden and Lead detection |
Golden Scout, Golden Cowboy |
Plenty of late-wave enemies cannot be hit at all without detection, so at least one of these two belongs on every map regardless of what else you run. |
| Crowd control |
Freezer, Electroshocker |
Slowing or stunning a group buys your damage towers extra hits before enemies reach the end of the path, which matters most on maps with long, open lanes. |
Tips for Building a Strong Loadout
- Place a Farm before you place your first real damage tower. Early cash compounds fast.
- Do not skip detection. A maxed damage tower is useless against a Hidden or Lead enemy it cannot see.
- Save for a golden skin instead of maxing a base tower first. The stat jump is usually worth the wait.
- Mix jobs instead of stacking one tower type. A carry, a support pair, and a crowd-control tower beats five copies of the same thing.
- Check the TDS codes page for free coins before you grind toward a golden skin.
- Do not trust one single tracker after a rebalance patch. Cross-check a pick against at least two sources before committing real cash.
Tower Defense Simulator Tier List FAQ
What is the best tower in Tower Defense Simulator?
Accelerator, Golden Cowboy, and Golden Scout are the only three towers that land near the top on every tracker we checked. Accelerator has the highest raw DPS in the game, while the other two pair strong damage with Hidden and Lead detection.
What is the best value tower for cheap DPS?
Golden Minigunner and Golden Crook Boss post the best damage-per-dollar numbers of any tower, at roughly 5.84 and 4.77 DPS per $1,000 spent. Golden Crook Boss recently got a real buff, from plus 10 percent to plus 25 percent damage.
Why do TDS tier lists disagree so much?
A May 2026 rebalance patch (v1.91.6) shifted the meta hard, and different sites have not all caught up. Towers like Commander, Turret, DJ Booth, and Rocketeer swing wildly between S-tier and D-tier depending on the source, so we only call a tower a safe top pick when multiple trackers agree.
Is Tower Defense Simulator still updated in 2026?
Yes. The game shipped its latest patch on July 8, 2026 and is running an active seasonal event right now, on top of pulling around 24,000 players at once, which puts it among the biggest strategy games on Roblox.
What do Commander and DJ Booth actually do?
Both are support towers that buff nearby towers rather than dealing much damage themselves. Stacked behind a group of damage carries like Accelerator, the combo reportedly boosts nearby DPS by 150 to 200 percent.
Does Tower Defense Simulator have codes?
Check our TDS codes page for the current list. Codes usually hand out free coins, which speed up saving for a golden skin or a new tower.
