Project Mugetsu Tier List
“Which race should you actually pick, and how does each power system unlock?”
Last Updated: July 2026
Project Mugetsu is the Bleach-inspired Roblox game where picking a race decides almost everything about how you play, from your combat style to how long the grind to full power actually takes.
The game has pulled in more than 86 million visits since launching in 2022, and while the crowd playing at any given moment is smaller than that total suggests, the developers, Osiris Productions, kept the game patched into July 2026.
Every race unlocks its own signature power system, and how fast you reach it is a big part of why some races get ranked above others. We pulled from the game’s own wiki and cross-checked outside tier lists to see which picks actually hold up.
New to the game? Our Project Mugetsu wiki covers the basics, and the Project Mugetsu codes page lists any free boosts you can claim before you start grinding.
Below is how the four races compare, how each power system actually unlocks, and why some sources argue there is no single best pick.
The Quick Answer
Soul Reaper is the most commonly ranked S-tier race because its Shikai and Bankai unlock through a clear, predictable path. Quincy and Fullbringer both land in A-tier as strong picks with a bit more setup, and Hollow/Arrancar sits at B-tier mainly because its evolution chain (Menos to Adjuchas to Vasto Lorde to Arrancar) takes the longest to finish, not because it is weak once you get there.
How Races Work in Project Mugetsu
Before the comparison, here is how picking a race actually plays out. Every ranking below is really ranking a piece of this same loop.
1
Talk to the right NPC to choose your race. Kisuke starts Soul Reaper, Aizen starts Hollow, Fresh starts Quincy, and Shamook starts Fullbringer. Each conversation kicks off a short questline that ends with your race being granted.
2
Grind your race’s specific system. Soul Reapers meditate toward Shikai and Bankai, Hollows consume body parts to evolve, Quincys complete a multi-step ritual quest, and Fullbringers wait until level 150 to unlock Fullbring.
3
Fight in your race’s home zone. Soul Reapers train in the Soul Society, Hollows and Arrancars grind in Hueco Mundo, and Quincys work out of Wandenreich, so your race choice shapes where you spend most of your time.
4
Push toward Clan battles once you are strong. Clans add a PvP and territory layer on top of race progression. Check the Project Mugetsu codes page for free boosts before you start grinding toward that stage.
The Races Compared
Project Mugetsu only offers four real playable races (a couple of joke or admin-only races exist too, but they are not something you can pick through normal play, so they are left out here). Here is how the four real options compare.
| Race |
Signature system |
Playstyle |
Current standing |
| Soul Reaper |
Shikai at level 15, then Bankai at meditation level 75, plus Kido spells and Hakuda fighting styles. |
The most balanced melee kit and the fastest race to reach its full power. |
Widely ranked S-tier and the easiest race to develop into a strong character. |
| Quincy |
A quest-chain acquisition, then Schrift growth into a full Vollstandig transformation. |
Bow-based ranged combat with a high-tech, precision-focused kit. |
A strong A-tier ranged specialist, a step behind Soul Reaper in ease of growth. |
| Fullbringer |
Fullbring unlocks at level 150 after a special defeat requirement, granting Bringer Kick, Bringer Light, and soul-based abilities. |
High-damage, fast combo strings built around mobility. |
Also A-tier, prized for burst damage once its late unlock is reached. |
| Hollow / Arrancar |
A long evolution chain from Menos to Adjuchas to Vasto Lorde, ending in Arrancar and Resurreccion. |
Cero-based ranged blasts mixed with heavy melee power. |
Ranked B-tier mainly because the grind is the longest, not because the ceiling is weak. |
Is there really a best race?
Not everyone agrees there should be a hard ranking at all. The developers have said they want every race to be viable, and some guides argue the tier spread above is less about raw power and more about how much grinding each race needs before it feels strong.
Treat the ranking above as a guide to how fast you will feel powerful, not as proof that Hollow or Arrancar players are stuck with a weaker character. With enough time invested, every race can hold its own.
Each race hides its real strength behind its own unlock system, and those systems take very different amounts of time to finish.
How Each Power System Unlocks
Rather than guessing at named ability tiers the developers have not published, here is exactly how each race’s signature system unlocks, straight from the game’s own progression rules.
| System |
How it unlocks |
Note |
| Shikai / Bankai (Soul Reaper) |
Shikai at level 15; Bankai after reaching meditation level 75 and defeating your own zanpakuto spirit. |
The clearest, most predictable unlock path of any race, which is a big part of why it ranks S-tier. |
| Vollstandig (Quincy) |
Earned through a multi-step quest chain involving Fresh, a stolen key, and a blood ritual with an 80 percent success chance. |
Slower to start than Soul Reaper, but the payoff is a strong ranged transformation. |
| Fullbring (Fullbringer) |
Unlocked at level 150 by talking to Shamook and dying to a stage-one Hollow five times. |
A late but powerful unlock, which is why Fullbringer trades early strength for a strong late game. |
| Resurreccion (Hollow/Arrancar) |
Reached only after evolving all the way through Menos, Adjuchas, and Vasto Lorde by consuming enemy body parts. |
By far the longest path in the game, which is the entire reason this race sits at B-tier. |
Tips for Picking a Race
- Pick Soul Reaper if you want the fastest, most predictable route to feeling strong.
- Pick Quincy or Fullbringer if you like ranged precision or burst combos and do not mind a longer setup quest.
- Pick Hollow or Arrancar if you are patient. The evolution grind is the longest in the game, but Resurreccion pays it off.
- Try to team up or avoid empty servers early on. Public PvP has no matchmaking, so new players can run into maxed-out Clan members.
- Watch for progression-affecting patches. The developers have shipped updates that reset or adjust unlocks before.
- Check the Project Mugetsu codes page for free boosts before you start grinding a race.
Project Mugetsu Tier List FAQ
What is the best race in Project Mugetsu?
Soul Reaper is the most commonly ranked S-tier race because its Shikai and Bankai unlock through the clearest, fastest path in the game. Quincy and Fullbringer are both strong A-tier picks with a bit more setup required.
Is Hollow or Arrancar bad in Project Mugetsu?
No. Hollow and Arrancar rank B-tier mainly because the evolution chain from Menos to Vasto Lorde to Arrancar takes the longest to finish, not because the race is weak. Once you reach Resurreccion, it holds its own.
How do you get Bankai in Project Mugetsu?
You need meditation level 75 to unlock the Bankai battle option, then you have to find and defeat your own zanpakuto spirit before you can start upgrading it further.
How do you become a Quincy in Project Mugetsu?
Quincy requires a multi-step quest chain that starts by talking to Fresh, includes defeating a Soul Reaper and a Hollow for key items, and ends with a blood ritual that has an 80 percent chance of success.
Is Project Mugetsu still being updated in 2026?
Yes. The game received a patch as recently as July 1, 2026, so it is still actively maintained, even though the live player count at any given moment is smaller than its full visit total suggests.
