How many disasters are in Natural Disaster Survival? There are 13, and each one needs a different plan. Hiding inside saves you from some of them and gets you killed by others.
This page covers all 13: the warning the game shows, the signs that give each one away early, and where to go to survive. It also shows how rare every survival badge is. Everything was checked on September 25, 2026.
Quick answer. Your first move depends on the disaster. Get under cover for Acid Rain, Blizzard, Meteor Shower and Thunderstorm. Get out in the open for Earthquake, Fire, Sandstorm and Tornado. Climb up for Flash Flood and Tsunami. Stay far away from the new hill for Avalanche and Volcanic Eruption. For the Deadly Virus, stay away from other players.

The same disaster never comes twice in a row. The only time you can see a repeat is a multi-disaster round, which is covered further down.
How to tell which disaster is coming
The warning pops up after the round starts. Some disasters give themselves away sooner, so you can start moving before anyone else.

5 disasters have their own early sign: Acid Rain, Avalanche, Blizzard, Sandstorm and Volcanic Eruption. The Flash Flood, Thunderstorm and Tornado all start with the same storm clouds, so you can’t tell them apart until the warning. The other 5 give no sign at all.
Disasters where you get under cover
These four hurt you from above. A roof with lots of layers is your best friend.
Acid Rain
- Get under a roof with lots of layers. The floor under you needs cover too.
- Blocks hit by the rain turn gray, then green. Green blocks fall off and hurt you.
- The rain falls at a slant. Stand behind a tall wall on the side it is coming from.
- The square trees make great shelters because they have 4 layers of blocks.
Blizzard
- Out in the open you lose health bit by bit, so get inside fast.
- The best spots are corners, under stairs, and the lowest floor of a building.
- On maps with no big buildings, keep moving from one shelter to the next.
Meteor Shower
- A meteor kills you if it touches you. Keep looking up.
- Hide under a roof with many layers. Meteors can break through a few.
- Stay off the top of tall buildings.
Thunderstorm
- Lightning hits every 2 seconds and likes high places.
- The lowest floor of any building keeps you safe all round.
- Don’t hide under a slide or seesaw. A tree is fine if you stay close to the trunk.
Disasters where you get out in the open
These four turn buildings into traps. Grass and open ground keep you safe.
Earthquake
- Leave every building and stand on the grass.
- Don’t jump on fallen blocks. They can hurt you or throw you off the island.
- Don’t use the balloon here. It can fling you into the air.
- On Party Palace, the base of the ride doesn’t move. On Modest Headquarters, the big grass patch doesn’t either.
Fire
- Fire cannot spread onto grass, so the grass is the safest place.
- Burnt black tiles are safe to walk on again.
- On a few maps you can push the thing that starts the fire into the water. On Party Palace it is the popcorn machine.
Sandstorm
- Don’t hide inside. Flying pieces of the building can hit you.
- Watch which way the pieces fly, then move to the other side of the map.
- Standing behind a tall wall of ground blocks the flying pieces.
Tornado
- Stay outside and keep moving away from it.
- Zoom your camera out. The tornado moves in straight lines, so you can see where it is going.
- The balloon helps you run, and the apple heals you.
Disasters where you get up high
These two come from the water. Climb up, but pick something that won’t fall over.
Flash Flood
- Climb somewhere high and steady. Ladders made of truss don’t break in the flood.
- Don’t go too high on a weak building. If it falls, the fall can kill you.
- The water hurts you slowly, so an apple helps you last longer.
Tsunami
- The wave kills you if it touches you, so climb up.
- Pick something steady and just a bit taller than the wave. Too high and it may fall.
- Once the wave passes, jump down.
Disasters where you keep your distance
These two come from a big new hill next to the island. Distance is what saves you.
Avalanche
- Stand far from the mountain, but not right on the edge of the island.
- Buildings get knocked over by the snow, so they will not save you.
- Climbing up and around to the back of the mountain is safer. Less snow goes there.
Volcanic Eruption
- Get far from the volcano and keep moving so lava blocks miss you.
- Lava blocks smash buildings, so high rooms are not safe for long.
- On Manic Mansion and Surf Central, hide behind the big solid ground on the far side from the volcano.
The disaster where you stay away from people
This one is the odd one out. The danger is the other players.
Deadly Virus
- One random player gets sick and coughs out purple drops. Touching a drop makes you sick.
- Stay in open space with room to run. Crowded buildings are a trap.
- Sick players are easy to spot because their health bar shows.
- If you get sick, stand still so you don’t spread it.
Tornado tip. It can feel safer to run inside when the Tornado shows up. Don’t. It rips buildings apart. Stay outside and keep moving away from it.
Multi-disasters and the Weather Machine
The Weather Machine lets players add more disasters to a round. Each extra disaster costs 75 Robux. One round can hold up to 7 disasters at once. If players add more than that, the rest roll into the next round as another multi-disaster.
Every size of multi-disaster has its own badge. You get it by surviving that many disasters in one round.

Here is the odd part. More players have the Power 7 badge (454,205) than the Power 5 (349,317) or Power 6 (169,911) badge. Power 7 is the biggest round the game allows. When someone powers the machine way up, the extra keeps turning into more full rounds of 7. That helps explain why Power 7 rounds show up more often than you would guess.
Survival badges and how rare they are
We compared every badge to “Survived a Disaster”, which 442,157,198 players have. That shows how many players out of all of them earned each one.

The five map badges only count on one map each. When the map and the disaster match, stay alive to the end and the badge is yours.

The Balloon, Apple and Compass are yours for good once you buy them. The Blue Hammer is different. If you die while holding it, it is gone until you get a new one.
Keep the Balloon put away during an Earthquake and a Thunderstorm. It can fling you into the air or lift you up where the lightning hits.
