Fish It Tier List
“Which rod should you actually be grinding toward?”
Last Updated: July 2026
In Fish It, your rod is the single biggest thing standing between you and rare fish. A better rod means more Luck, faster casts, and the ability to reel in heavier catches.
The game has passed 4.5 billion visits with around 149,000 people playing at once, which makes it one of the biggest games on all of Roblox right now, and it is still getting updates constantly.
This guide ranks every rod, lists the full stats, picks the best rod for your exact situation, and shows the smartest way to spend your coins. New here? Our Fish It wiki covers the basics, and the Fish It codes page lists any free rewards.
The Quick Answer
The best rod in the game is the Diamond Rod, with the highest Luck (1300%), fastest Speed, and biggest weight limit of any rod. It is a long quest, so the Element Rod is the top pick until you unlock it. The best rod you can simply buy is the Bamboo Rod (760% Luck), and the best free pick is the Ghostfinn Rod from the Deep Sea quest.
How Rod Stats Work
Every rod has three stats, and they are what actually decide how good it is. Here is what each one does.
1
Luck is the most important stat. It raises your chance at rare and Secret fish. This is why rod rankings track Luck above everything else, and why the Diamond Rod sits at the top.
2
Speed controls your cast rate. It is how fast your luck bar charges, so higher Speed means more casts per minute and much faster farming over a long session.
3
Weight is your catch limit. It is the heaviest fish a rod can reel in. A low-weight rod physically cannot land the biggest catches, no matter how much Luck you have.
Fish It Rod Tier List
Here is every rod band, from the current best down to what you start with. Rankings are based on Luck first, then Speed, then how hard the rod is to unlock.

Smart Money: Biggest Upgrade Jumps
Most tier lists just rank rods. This section tells you which upgrades are actually worth your coins and which ones to skip, so you do not waste a grind.
- Skip the Midnight Rod. The Lucky Rod costs a fifth as much (10K vs 50K) and has more Luck (130% vs 100%). Buy Lucky and save the rest.
- Astral beats Hazmat on value. Both sit at 380% Luck, but Astral is cheaper (1M vs 1.38M) and faster (43% vs 32% Speed). Only pick Hazmat if you specifically need its higher weight limit.
- Do not buy the Angler Rod. It costs a massive 8M coins for 530% Luck, but the free Ghostfinn Rod from the Deep Sea quest beats it at 610%. Do the quest instead and spend your coins on Bamboo.
- Bamboo is the last big coin buy. At 760% Luck it is the strongest purchasable rod, and everything above it is quest-only. Save hard for it, then switch to grinding the Secret quests.
- Gamepass rods are optional. The Angelic Rod (399 Robux, 180% Luck) is the only gamepass rod worth considering, and even it is quickly passed by free quest rods.
A clean upgrade path from your first real rod to the best in the game.
The Fastest Path to the Diamond Rod
The two S-tier rods are locked behind a chain, because each one is a requirement for the next. You cannot skip straight to the Diamond Rod.
First finish the Deep Sea quest for the Ghostfinn Rod. Use it to farm the Secret fish and Transcended Stones you need for the Element Quest. Only then can the Diamond Researcher hand over the Diamond Rod, which also asks for a Mutated Gemstone Ruby, a Loch Ness Monster, and 1,000 perfect-throw catches.
Best Baits in Fish It
Your rod is only half the setup. Bait adds even more Luck on top, and the best baits also raise your odds at Mythic and Secret fish. Here are the ones worth buying.
| Bait |
Rarity |
Cost |
What it gives |
When to use it |
| Aether Bait |
Mythic |
3.7M coins |
260% Luck, plus higher Mythic and Secret fish odds |
The best bait confirmed on the game’s own wiki. Pair it with an S or A-tier rod for serious Secret hunting. |
| Dark Matter Bait |
Mythic |
630K coins |
170% Luck, plus bonus XP and Secret odds |
A big step up in Luck for a mid-game budget, and the bait most players run before they can afford Aether. |
| Chroma Bait |
Legendary |
290K coins |
100% Luck |
A clean, cheap 100% Luck boost. Great value while you are still building toward a Mythic bait. |
| Nature Bait |
Epic |
83.5K coins |
45% Luck, plus 4% bonus XP |
The first bait worth buying once you leave the starter islands behind. |
Enchants Worth Targeting
Enchants apply an extra bonus to a rod slot. For chasing rare fish, a Luck enchant (often called Leprechaun) is the one to prioritize, since Luck is king in this game.
Other useful enchants boost how big the fish you catch can be, how fast you reel, and how much XP you earn. The rarest enchant, the Runic Enchant Stone, was added in a later update and is unlocked by completing 100 percent of the Fish Index (all 560 fish) to earn the Ruin Key.
Enchant values change often as the game updates, so treat a Luck enchant as the safe default and re-check in game before committing a rare stone to a slot.
A Note on the Newest Update
Fish It shipped a big update in July 2026 that added a Contraband Market, ten new fish, and new Forgotten and Secret content. Brand-new items can take a little while to show up in any guide, including this one.
One thing to know: some other guides list a “Singularity Bait” as the top bait, but it does not appear on the game’s own wiki yet, so we have left it off until it is confirmed. The rankings above reflect the game’s current, documented rods and baits, with the Diamond Rod as the confirmed best rod. If a future patch adds something stronger, we will update this page.
Tips for Upgrading Faster
- Chase Luck first. A rod with higher Luck earns you more valuable fish, which pays for your next upgrade faster than chasing Speed alone.
- Grab the free Lava Rod from the Kohana Volcano NPC early. It costs nothing and helps you get rolling.
- Match a strong bait to your best rod. A great rod with cheap bait is leaving a lot of Luck on the table.
- Start the Deep Sea quest as soon as you can, since the Ghostfinn Rod it gives you is the gateway to both S-tier rods.
- Check the Fish It codes page for free coins before your next big rod purchase.
Fish It Tier List FAQ
What is the best rod in Fish It?
The Diamond Rod. It has the highest Luck (1300%), the fastest Speed, and the biggest weight limit of any rod in the game. It is earned through the Diamond Researcher quest chain.
What is the best rod you can buy with coins?
The Bamboo Rod, at 760% Luck, is the strongest rod you can simply purchase. It costs 12 million coins at the Ancient Jungle.
What is the best free rod in Fish It?
The Ghostfinn Rod at 610% Luck, earned from the Deep Sea quest. It beats the 8-million-coin Angler Rod, so most players do the quest instead of buying Angler.
How do you get the Diamond Rod?
You first need the Element Rod, which needs the Ghostfinn Rod from the Deep Sea quest. Then the Diamond Researcher asks for Secret fish, a Mutated Gemstone Ruby, a Loch Ness Monster, and 1,000 perfect-throw catches.
What is the best bait in Fish It?
Aether Bait, which gives 260% Luck plus better Mythic and Secret fish odds. Dark Matter Bait is the best mid-game option before you can afford it.
Which rod stat matters most?
Luck. It controls your odds of catching rare and Secret fish, which is what most players are grinding for, so rod rankings are built around Luck first.
Does Fish It have codes?
Yes. Check our Fish It codes page for the current list. Codes usually hand out free coins or boosts that help you afford a better rod.
