Speed Run 4 is one of those Roblox classics that’s been around forever and still pulls players in. The idea is simple: run through a series of obstacle courses as fast as you can, reach the end, and move on to the next level. No weapons, no stats, no pets. Just you, your movement, and 31 stages standing between you and the finish line.
What You’re Actually Doing in Speed Run 4
Each level is a platforming course with its own look and feel. Some are bright and floaty, some are tight and technical, and a few will make you want to throw your keyboard. You’re not just jumping from platform to platform either. The courses throw in moving parts, narrow paths, and tricky gaps that punish sloppy movement fast.
There’s a timer running the whole time. That’s the whole point. You’re either racing against your own best time or trying to beat other players on the leaderboard. The satisfaction of shaving a few seconds off a level you’ve run a hundred times is genuinely addicting.
The game also has different modes to keep things interesting. Classic mode takes you through all 31 levels in order. There’s also a random level option if you just want to practice a specific stage without sitting through the ones before it. It’s a small thing, but it makes grinding for better times way less painful.
The Good, the Annoying, and Where the Game Stands Now
The level design is genuinely solid. Creator Vurse put real thought into how each stage feels different from the last. Level 14 with its pastel clouds and floaty jumps hits completely different from the darker, faster late-game stages. It doesn’t feel like someone just copy-pasted platforms for 31 levels.
That said, the game hasn’t been updated in years. No new levels, no new modes, nothing fresh. The player count has dropped a lot compared to its peak days. You can still find servers, but it’s nowhere near as packed as it used to be. If you’re hoping for new content, it’s probably not coming.
The other frustrating thing is Roblox’s physics being Roblox’s physics. Sometimes you’ll clip through a platform or get knocked off by nothing. It doesn’t happen constantly, but when it does mid-run on a good attempt, it stings. The core game is fun though, and for a free-to-play platformer with no paywalled content blocking your progress, it’s hard to complain too much.
