Islands is a Roblox game where you build up your own floating island, gather resources, craft gear, and trade with other players. Think farming sim meets sandbox builder, but with a Roblox twist. It blew up back in 2020 and pulled in millions of players who just wanted to vibe, grow crops, and make gold.
What You Actually Do in Islands
You start with a basic island and a few tools. From there, you chop trees, mine rocks, and plant crops like wheat and carrots to get resources rolling in. Everything feeds into crafting. You need materials to make better tools, and better tools let you get more materials faster.
The conveyor belt and industrial machine setup is where things get interesting. You can build automated factories on your island that process resources without you having to click everything by hand. Setting up a solid conveyor loop feels genuinely satisfying when it all clicks together.
Trading is a big part of the game too. You can visit other players’ islands, buy from their shops, or set up your own storefront to sell items. The economy is player driven, so prices shift depending on what people actually want. It gives the game a little bit of that hustle energy.
The Good, The Annoying, and Where It Stands Now
Islands has a genuinely chill vibe that is hard to find in a lot of Roblox games. There is no pressure, no timer, just you building and grinding at your own pace. The crafting system has enough depth to keep you busy for hours, especially once you get into steel, totems, and the more advanced machines.
The frustrating part is the grind. Early game especially, collecting enough iron ore or fiber just to make basic items takes forever. Some drops feel stingy, and if you are not setting up automation early, you will burn out clicking the same rocks over and over. The game also has not seen a major update in a while, and the player count has dropped pretty noticeably from its peak.
It is not dead, but it is quieter than it used to be. You can still find active servers and players with busy shop islands, so the community has not completely moved on. If you liked games like Skyblock or farming simulators, Islands is still worth trying. Just go in knowing it is more of a slow burn than a fast action game.
