How to Play Dress to Impress
- Get your theme. Each round assigns one at random, or you can lock in your own with a Theme Prop.
- Style up fast. You get 360 seconds (6 minutes) and up to 18 items, or 24 with the Increased Item Limit gamepass.
- Walk the runway. Everyone struts one by one in join order, using Walks and Poses to show off.
- Get voted. The rest of the server rates each look from 1 to 5 Stars.
- Climb the podium. The top three scorers get a spotlight moment, then everyone earns Stars and Cash.
- Pick your server type based on what you want, from casual theme rounds to Freeplay with no timer at all.
Dress to Impress Gameplay: Server Types and Themes
Not every server plays the same way. Here is what each type offers:
| Server Type |
What It Offers |
| Casual and Regular |
Standard theme rounds, the default way most players jump in |
| Pro and Master |
For players chasing tougher competition and higher-skill lobbies |
| VIP |
A dedicated server type for VIP players |
| Style Showdown |
A RuPaul-drag-race-style elimination side mode, not a standard theme round |
| Freeplay |
No theme and no timer, just styling and posing at your own pace |
The theme pool has passed 500 and keeps growing with nearly every update and collaboration. For every category and the rare collab-exclusive themes, see our Dress to Impress themes guide.
What’s Fun and What Gets Annoying
The clothing catalog is genuinely impressive, with new items added regularly and enough variety to build almost any theme convincingly. Free roam lobbies also let you hang out, take photos, and show off fits without any pressure to perform.
The voting system is the most common complaint. Some players vote randomly or just for friends, so a strong on-theme outfit can still lose to something that barely tried. That has not slowed the game down at all, though. It keeps growing, and new themes and items keep servers feeling fresh.
Tips for New Dress to Impress Players
- Read the theme literally before getting creative. A clear, obvious take often scores higher than an expensive outfit that only half matches.
- Try Freeplay first if you just want to learn the item catalog without any time pressure.
- Save a few go-to pieces for common categories, like an era outfit or a fantasy staple, so you are never starting from zero.
- Do not overthink your full six minutes. Commit to a direction early and spend the rest on details.
- Try Style Showdown if standard rounds start feeling repetitive. It plays completely differently.
- Check the codes page for free cash and items before shopping for new pieces.
