How to Play Bird Simulator
- Join and pick your bird. Owls, cardinals, blue jays and hawks all show up in the game’s own pictures.
- Get in the air. Flying is the whole game, and the forest is open from the moment you land.
- Go and look at things. There is no map marker telling you where to go, so pick a direction.
- Say hello to whoever is about. Servers hold 24 people, though these days you will meet far fewer.
- Try the challenge mode. The game advertises one on its own pictures, for when quiet flying wears thin.
- Come back with somebody. One friend doubles the population of most servers in this game.
That really is it. This game came out before Roblox games started handing you a shop, a quest list and three currencies in the first minute.
Whether that sounds relaxing or empty depends entirely on you. It is a very old-fashioned thing to play.
Bird Simulator Gameplay: Huge and Empty at Once
Forty nine million visits sounds like a crowd. It is not, because that number counts everybody who has ever walked in since 2015.
What is happening right now is one server with about five people in it. That is the entire population of the game today.
The last update landed in March 2023, so it has been left alone for three and a half years. It still runs, and nobody has taken it down.

Players in 2015 pressed those buttons far more freely than they do now. So the number is a decent clue about a game’s age and a poor one about how good it is.

It Started Life as an Alpha
Two days after it opened, the page was called Bird Simulator Alpha. The developer was telling everyone it was unfinished.
By October 2015 the word had been dropped and it was simply Bird Simulator, which is what it has been ever since.
The old copies of the page stop in March 2023, two days after the final update. Once the developer stopped, so did everything else.
No Badges, Anywhere
