Anime Battle Arena, or ABA as everyone calls it, is a Roblox fighting game where you pick a character from a massive roster of anime series and go head to head with other players. We’re talking Naruto, Bleach, Dragon Ball, One Piece, Demon Slayer and way more, all crammed into one game. It’s basically a love letter to anime fans who also want to punch people online.
How ABA Actually Works
Every character in ABA has their own moveset pulled straight from their anime. Ichigo plays completely different from Goku, who plays nothing like Itachi. You’ve got light attacks, heavy attacks, a block, a dodge, and then your character’s unique abilities mapped to specific keys. Learning one character properly takes real time.
Most of your time is spent in 1v1 matches or free-for-all lobbies. There’s a ranked mode if you want to test yourself against serious players, and casual lobbies if you just want to mess around. The combat system has combos, tech chasing, and guard breaks, so it’s deeper than it looks from the outside.
Characters are split into tiers, and some are locked behind grinding or in-game currency. You’ll unlock more as you play, but jumping in as a brand new player means you’re working with a limited selection at first. Stick with it though because the roster is genuinely one of the best parts of the game.
What’s Good and What Gets Annoying
The character variety is the obvious highlight. ABA has one of the biggest crossover rosters of any Roblox fighting game, and the devs keep adding new characters from popular series. When a new drop lands, the whole community goes a bit crazy and it’s genuinely fun to be part of that.
The frustrating part is the skill gap. If you’re new, you will get absolutely stomped by players who’ve been playing for years and know every combo, every tech, every punish. Some characters are also noticeably stronger than others, and the balance patches don’t always fix things fast enough. Ranked mode especially can feel rough when you’re still learning.
The game is still active but the player count has dipped compared to its peak. You can still find matches without waiting forever, especially in casual, but ranked queues can drag depending on the time of day. The dev team is still updating it, which is a good sign, but ABA isn’t quite the giant it once was. Still worth playing, just going in with realistic expectations helps.
