Last Updated: July 2026 | Player numbers and class list checked against the live game.
Animal Hospital is a Roblox horror game made by a verified group called Animal Anomaly. You have been hired for the night shift at a pet clinic. Animals queue up at your check-in window, and your job is to work out which ones are real patients and which ones are only pretending. The fakes are called anomalies, and letting one inside goes badly for everybody.
It opened in May 2026 and grew faster than almost anything on Roblox, passing 1.3 billion visits in under three months. About half a million people are playing it at any given moment. This page collects what the game actually does: all 17 anomaly types, every sanity number, the 11 classes, and what each shift hands you.

How to Play Animal Hospital
Your shift is a loop. An animal walks up, you check it, you decide, and then you treat it or turn it away. Here is the order that keeps you alive.
- Grab the coffee the moment a pot is ready. Taking it starts the next one brewing, so you never waste the machine.
- Look at the animal at the window properly. Seven of the 17 fakes can be spotted with your own eyes.
- Take a photo of it. Two more fakes only show up on the polaroid. Let the photo finish developing before you pick it up.
- Flick through the security cameras. Eight of the 17 hide from everything except the cameras.
- If anything is wrong, close the shutters. That costs you nothing at all, whether you were right or not.
- If it is real, check it in and read the room computer for the treatment it needs.
- Fetch that exact treatment from the medical or emergency wing. The wrong one kills the patient.
- Watch your sanity bar. Below 35 the music slows and the colour drains out of the hospital.
Animal Hospital Gameplay
The game is built out of shifts that never stop coming. There is no final level. You keep working until your sanity runs out or three animals die, and then the run ends and you start again from shift 1.
Sanity is the thing to understand first. It is your health bar, it starts between 61 and 65, and at 0 you die. Simply being at work drains 1 sanity every 50 seconds no matter what you do. Coffee gives you 15 back and a chocolate bar gives 60.
The expensive mistake is guessing wrong at the window. Zapping a fake with the taser pays you 2 sanity. Zapping a real patient costs you 15. That is why the shutters matter so much, because closing them costs nothing either way.
Money and Animal Coins both arrive at the end of a shift, and the amount depends on your grade. The report scores four things: patients treated, visitors admitted, anomalies turned away, and animal deaths. Grades run Excellent, Good, Poor and Critical.
Servers hold thirty people, so most shifts are shared. That cuts both ways. Teammates can fetch treatments while you work the window, but a teammate can also tase you, which costs you both sanity.
The 17 Anomalies
Every fake patient belongs to one of three groups, and the group tells you which check will catch it. This is the single most useful thing to learn in the game.
| The check |
Types it catches |
What it spots |
| Look at the window |
7 of 17 |
Wrong faces, extra eyes, staring and twitching |
| Take a photo |
2 of 17 |
A face, ear shape or ear colour that does not match |
| Check the cameras |
8 of 17 |
Black bars, stretched bodies, void shapes and Mimics |
Read that middle column again. The cameras hold the biggest group, and they are the check people skip. If you only look at the window you are catching 7 of the 17. Window and photo together still only gets you to 9.
All 11 Classes
Classes are bought in the lobby with Animal Coins or Robux, and each one changes how you play. They level up to 3 with experience, costing 200 then another 850.

Careful with the Psychologist. It doubles every sanity effect, and that includes the bad ones. Coffee gives you 30 instead of 15, but a wrong tase costs 30 instead of 15 and a Head Banger costs 40. Take it once your calls are reliable, not while you are still learning.
What Each Shift Unlocks
You do not start with your full kit. Dr. Harlow hands it over one piece at a time across the first six shifts, so early runs feel very different from later ones.
| Shift |
What you get |
What changes |
| Shift 1 |
Nothing yet |
Two scripted patients, never fakes. Stomach ache needs herbs, dried eyes need eye drops |
| Shift 2 |
Shutters and cameras |
Real anomalies start. The Emergency Wing and shop open at the end |
| Shift 3 |
A reminder |
Dr. Harlow tells you to keep checking cameras and photos |
| Shift 4 |
Free taser |
It sits in the Check-In Office. First ambulance event lands, 6 patients at once |
| Shift 6 |
The rules bite |
Dr. Harlow’s last visit. Three animal deaths now ends the run |
| Shifts 11-12 |
The UV camera |
Liz lends it to you for a side story. Waste it and she never comes back |
From shift 4 onward an ambulance turns up every five shifts with a rush of badly hurt patients. Clear it and you get a bonus on top of your normal pay. Each one brings more patients than the last.
Monsters Inside the Hospital
Not everything dangerous queues at your window. These turn up inside the building, and you cannot shutter them out.
| Monster |
Where it shows up |
How to handle it |
| Head Banger |
Your office window |
Give it a coffee. Asking it to leave costs 20 sanity |
| Ghost |
Anywhere, invisible |
Spawns after a death. Taser or gun from behind |
| Camera Figure |
Broken cameras |
Fix cameras. Switch away fast if one appears |
| Mimic |
Inside the hospital |
What a fake becomes once you let it in |
| Bed Monster |
Under a patient bed |
Feed it maple syrup, an organ or a transplant |
| Mass of Eyes |

Do not look up. Treat and leave |
| Tendril |
Surgery room 8 |

| Stalker |

Cannot be tased or shot. Break line of sight |
Tips for New Animal Hospital Players
- Use the shutters more than the taser. It is free when you are wrong, and being wrong with a taser costs 15 sanity.
- Never skip the cameras. Nearly half the fakes are invisible anywhere else.
- Let photos finish developing. Picking up a cursed one early costs you 10 sanity for nothing.
- Keep one coffee spare for the Head Banger. Handing it a drink is free, asking it to leave costs 20 sanity.
- Fix broken cameras. A broken one is both a blind spot and where the Camera Figure spawns.
- Take the Intern class first. It starts with more sanity than the others, which buys you room to make mistakes.
- If a room is on fire and somebody walks through without fainting, that is a fake. Real animals always faint.
- Throw fainted patients in the bin if you are out of time. It does not count as a death.
- Play with a team and split the jobs. One person on the window and one fetching treatments beats both doing everything.
Animal Hospital FAQ
How many anomalies are in the game?
Seventeen known types. Seven show at the window, two only in the photo, and eight only on the security cameras. More get added in updates.
What happens if I let one in?
It can trap a patient in a Death Ritual, burst into tendrils during surgery, or turn into a Mimic and start eating the other patients and you.
How do I get more sanity?
Coffee gives 15 and brews fresh every three minutes. A chocolate bar gives 60. Tasing a fake gives 2, and some classes pay you for checking in or healing patients.
Are there any codes?
No. There is no code box in the game at all, so nothing can be redeemed. Our Animal Hospital codes page covers it properly.
What is the best class?
Intern for a beginner, because it starts with the most sanity. Security is the strongest all round pick since it brings a taser and a spare camera. Psychologist is the best once you stop guessing wrong.
How long is a run?
As long as you last. Shifts keep coming with no cap, so the game only ends when your sanity hits 0 or three animals die.
Why does the screen go grey?
Your sanity has dropped below 35. The music slows and the colour drains as a warning. Drink something quickly.
Is it scary?
Yes. It has jumpscares on purpose, including monsters whose only job is to startle you through the security cameras.
