Last Updated: September 2026 | Launch a real Saturn V, earn Research Points, and work your way out to bases on other planets.
Rocket Tester is a free Roblox space game. You launch real rockets, from the tiny Sputnik booster to the Saturn V, and each one gives you Research Points for finishing its mission. Points unlock more rockets and parts. Get far enough and you build space stations and bases across the solar system.
This page explains how Research Points work and what they unlock. It has the five badges and how deep each one takes you, plus the game passes and where to start if you have never played. It also covers why a game this old still has no codes and no scripts.

Simulation sandbox, listed by Roblox under Learning and Explore |

Research Points and What They Unlock
Research Points are the whole progress system. You spawn a rocket from the buttons on the left, and its description tells you the mission, like reach orbit or land on the Moon.
Pull that mission off and you earn that rocket’s points. Bigger and harder rockets are worth more.
Points unlock the next tier of rockets, then missiles, then building parts. Once you have enough you can build a space station in orbit.
After that comes base building on the planets and moons. Open the cog menu and pick Modify Space Bases. Base parts cost resources, population and electricity, and some parts make more Research Points for you over time.
The Research Point Badges
All five badges are the same idea: a running total of Research Points. They map cleanly onto how far people get.
| Badge |
Players who have it |
What it takes |
| 1 million research points |
145,107 |
A steady session or two of launches |
| 5 million research points |
66,308 |
Most of the mid-tier rockets done |
| 10 million research points |
56,556 |
Deep into the rocket list |
| 100 million research points |
18,341 |
Space stations and planet bases running |
| 1 billion research points |
3,835 |
A long-haul grind. Very few players get here |
The 1 million badge sits at 145,107. Against more than 25 million visits, that is about 1 in 170 players who stick around long enough to hit it.
The drop-off after that is steep. The 100 million badge is at 18,341, and the 1 billion badge at just 3,835. That last one is a serious grind.

The Game Passes
There are five passes and they are all cheap. None of them give you Research Points or skip the unlock system.
| Game pass |
Price |
What it adds |
| UFO |
10 Robux |
A flying saucer craft to mess around with |
| Steampunk Spaceship |
20 Robux |
A themed ship skin |
| Mothership |
50 Robux |
A large carrier craft |
| NuGlider |
75 Robux |
A glider for moving around planet surfaces |
| Donation |
100 Robux |
A tip jar for the developer. Gives nothing in game |
The UFO, Steampunk Spaceship and Mothership are extra craft to fly around in. The NuGlider helps you move on planet surfaces.
The Donation pass is exactly that. It gives you nothing in the game and just tips the developer.
How to Play Rocket Tester
- Join and find the help character. It walks you through the basic controls.
- Open the rocket menu on the left. Start with the first small rocket in the list.
- Read its description. It tells you the mission you need to complete for points.
- Launch it and fly the mission. Reaching orbit is the first goal for most early rockets.
- Spend the Research Points you earn to unlock the next rocket, and repeat.
- Once bigger parts unlock, try a space station, then a base on the Moon.
Rocket Tester Gameplay
The early game is a loop. Pick a rocket, read the mission, launch, fly it, collect points, unlock the next one.
The rockets are real ones. You start near the R-7 that carried Sputnik and work up through the Saturn V and modern craft like Crew Dragon.
Flying takes practice. Rockets tip over, run out of fuel, or miss orbit. Missing a mission is normal, and you just try again.
Later the game opens up. Space stations let you dock craft. Planet bases turn it into a slow builder where you manage power and population.
Servers hold six players, so you can watch each other’s launches. There is a separate mobile edition if the main game runs slow on your device.
Tips for New Rocket Tester Players
- Talk to the help character first. It explains the controls that are not obvious.
- Always read the rocket description before you launch. That is where the mission is.
- Go slow on the throttle at first. Full power straight up tips most rockets over.
- Do the easy orbit missions a few times to bank early points fast.
- Do not buy the Donation pass expecting an item. It is a tip and nothing else.
- Try the mobile edition if the main game lags. It is a lighter version of the same thing.
What Is Free in Rocket Tester
Every rocket
All 50-plus rockets unlock with Research Points you earn by playing. Nothing is behind a pass.
Space stations and planet bases
The whole building side of the game is free. You unlock it with points, not Robux.
The full solar system
Bases can go on 12 planets and moons. Getting to all of them costs time, not money.
The mobile edition
A separate lighter version of the game for phones and slower devices, also free.
Rocket Tester FAQ
Is Rocket Tester free?
Yes. Every rocket and every building part unlocks with Research Points you earn. The five passes cost 10 to 100 Robux and add craft or tip the developer.
What are Research Points for?
They are the unlock system. Each rocket gives points for finishing its mission, and points unlock more rockets, parts, space stations and planet bases.
How many rockets are there?
Over 50, and they are real designs, from the R-7 that launched Sputnik up to the Saturn V and Crew Dragon.
Can I buy Research Points?
No. No pass gives points or skips the unlock ladder. You earn every point by flying missions.
Does Rocket Tester have codes?
No. There is no code box and no currency a code could give you. Our codes page has the detail.
Are there scripts for Rocket Tester?
No working ones. Research Points are checked on the server, so a script cannot add them. Our script page explains it.
