Endangered World asks you to look after animals. You photograph them, heal the injured ones at a rescue building, raise babies and build enclosures for the population you grow. It is a calm co-op game for eight people at a time.

How to Play Endangered World
Nothing here is a race and nothing is locked behind a payment. The habitats open as you finish the quests in the one before.
- Join the studio group before you start. It hands you an enclosure pin for this game and costs nothing.
- Start in the savanna. That is where most players begin, and 60,224 have finished its quests.
- Photograph everything you meet. Photos are their own reward here and one badge needs a hundred thousand of them.
- Heal the injured animals you find. Healing them is how you get to adopt them.
- Raise babies to earn gems. Gems are the only money in the game and this is the only way to make them.
- Build enclosures and keep expanding. The habitats open up one after another as you work through the quests.

Read the top seven as a difficulty ladder and the bottom three as something else. Those three were added later, so fewer players have had the chance rather than the ability.
The ocean arrived in July 2022, the coral reef a week after it, and the alpine tundra not until March 2023. The game kept growing for nearly a year after it opened.
Alongside them runs a second ladder for breeding. About 66,351 players have raised babies from ten different species, and 5,134 have managed a hundred.

The first step is ordinary enough. Around one player in a hundred has taken a thousand pictures of animals.
The second is already down to 715 people. And then the last row is a single player, somewhere, who took a hundred thousand.
Nothing about that can be rushed. There is no tool for this game at all, so somebody simply did it.
Nearly Half of Players Get Killed by an Animal
Here is the number that made us laugh, and it is a fair warning too.
After the badge everyone gets for joining, the most common badge in the game goes to players who were killed by an animal. Nearly 5.94 million people have it.
That is about 46 in every 100 players. The game is about saving the animal kingdom and almost half of everyone gets flattened by it first.
Third on the list is surviving a volcanic eruption, which 3.56 million players have done. The volcano is visible smoking away in the corner of the game’s own picture.
The Archive Caught It Before It Opened
Old copies of the game page go back further than the game itself really does.
The very first one, from 18 June 2022, shows the page reading Coming Soon. The game had technically existed for eight days at that point.
The proper name appears from July 2022 onwards. A couple of months later the page title briefly advertised new animals, then a coral reef.
That coral reef tag ran through October 2022, which lines up with the badge for finishing the coral reef quests. Two separate records pointing at the same update.
Tips for New Endangered World Players
- Join the studio group first. It gives you an enclosure pin here, and different free perks in the studio’s other two games.
- Keep your distance from the big animals. Nearly half of all players have the badge for being killed by one.
- Make your camera waterproof early. About 69,520 players have, and the ocean and reef habitats need it.
- Heal everything you walk past. There is a badge at ten animals healed and another at a hundred.
- Do not judge the last three habitats by their numbers. They were added later, so fewer people have had a chance at them.
- Do not go looking for codes. There are none, and the group perk is the free thing instead.
