How to Play Rap Battles
The important thing to understand is that nothing measures your rap. A room of real people decides, and that changes what you should be doing.
- Join the studio group first. The game page says that gets you a free fire microphone skin.
- Take a spot in the queue. Two players battle at a time and everybody else watches from the crowd.
- Pick a beat when your turn comes. The game gives you a pile of them and none of them costs anything.
- Rap. You get a set amount of time, and there is a pass that buys you more of it if you want.
- Let your opponent go. The room is comparing you, so listening tells you what you need to beat.
- Wait for the vote. Everyone watching picks a winner, and that vote is the entire result.
- Vote in other people’s battles too. You level up from voting as well as from winning.
Step five is what separates people who win from people who are simply good. You are being compared, so what your opponent just did is the target you have to clear.

The top of that table is ordinary. Over four million players have won a match, and the fall from five wins to fifty is steady rather than cruel.
The last row is not ordinary at all. Seven people have earned the badge for beating one of the game’s own developers.
Seven, out of more than four and a third million players who have won anything. That is roughly one in 627,000, and it is the rarest thing we have found in any game.
It is also the one badge nobody can plan for. A developer has to be in your room, has to battle you, and the crowd has to vote for you over them.
All six badges were made in July 2022, months after the game opened, so they count players from that point on rather than from day one.
Three Rooms, Not One
Most players only ever see the main game, but there are three places attached to this one.
The second is voice chat only. The game page calls those servers the ones for real pros, and the whole point is that you rap out loud rather than typing.
The third is named simply 2v2, and it is what it sounds like. Two pairs, taking turns.
That room lines up with a spell in late summer 2025 when the game put a two against two tag in its own name, so it was a proper release rather than a leftover.

Twelve passes, just under 5,000 Robux for the lot, and they were added steadily from 2021 to 2024.
Look at the top row. The most expensive thing in this rap game is a pass for throwing giant tomatoes, at 2,499 Robux.
That is more than eight times the next item, and there is already a 199 Robux pass giving unlimited normal tomatoes. The expensive one only makes them bigger.
So heckling is the dearest thing this game sells. Worth knowing before you spend, because the cheap tomato pass does most of the job.
One other pass is worth naming. There is a 99 Robux one that doubles your vote, in a game where the audience decides every match. We are stating that, not judging it.

This game announces almost everything by putting it in its own name for a while, which leaves a clear trail behind it.
For more than three years it was Epic Rap Battles. The word disappeared in February 2026 and the page has been plain Rap Battles ever since.
The tags in between are a calendar. Christmas ran into 2025, Valentine followed in February, Easter came in April, and free item giveaways ran on and off for two years.
That is a game being actively worked on, and the page was updated two days before this was written.
Tips for New Rap Battles Players
- Join the studio group before your first round. It gets you a free microphone skin and costs nothing.
- Aim your lines at your opponent. The room is voting on entertainment, and a line about the person opposite lands harder.
- Land the ending. People vote on what they remember, and that is nearly always the last thing you said.
- Listen to the other player before your turn. You are being compared to them, not to a score.
- Vote in other people’s battles. You level up from voting as well as winning, so the crowd is not wasted time.
- Do not buy the giant tomatoes first. The 199 Robux tomato pass does most of what the 2,499 one does.
