Last Updated: August 2026 | Badges, shop and player numbers checked against the live game.
Sambung Kata is a word chain game played in Indonesian. One person says a word, and the next person has to answer with a new word that starts on the last letter of it. Nothing already said can be used twice, and whoever runs out of ideas first drops out. It is played in turns around a table with up to 40 people, and speed matters as much as knowing words. It opened in January 2026 and has passed 62 million visits in seven months.
This page covers the Index, which is the personal dictionary the whole game is built around. It also covers all 19 badges and how far people really get, the two things in the shop, and why this game is much quieter now than it was in February.

How to Play Sambung Kata
- Know before you start that the game runs in Indonesian. The menus are in it and so are the words you have to type, so it is much harder if you do not read any.
- Join a table and wait your turn. Play goes round the group one person at a time.
- Look at the last letter of the word just played. Your answer has to begin with that letter.
- Type a word nobody in the round has used yet. Repeats do not count and will cost you the turn.
- Send it before the clock runs out. Running out of time is what knocks most people out, not running out of words.
- Watch your Index grow. Any word you play for the first time gets saved there, and a bigger Index pays you more every round after.
- Try the team mode once you are comfortable. Two versus two lets a partner cover the letters you are weak on.
Sambung Kata Gameplay: The Index Is The Whole Game
Most games keep a level or a pile of coins. This one keeps a dictionary, and it belongs to you rather than the round you are in.
Every word you play for the first time is written into your Index and stays there. It does not reset when the round ends or when you log off. The longer that list gets, the more money each round pays you.
That changes how the game feels. A round you lose can still be a good round, because a single new word you had never played before is banked for good. You are collecting as much as competing.
There is a second currency called bamboo, which buys accessories. You pick it up as you play rather than paying for it, so the cosmetics side of this game costs nothing but time.
All 19 Badges, And The One Nobody Has
This game has 19 badges and every single one is the same thing: reach a certain number of words in your Index. There is nothing for winning a round, nothing for a streak, and no badge just for turning up.
That makes them unusually honest. Because there is no badge for joining, none of these numbers is padded by people who opened the game once and left. Every one of them is somebody who actually banked that many words.

Nobody. It was added on 14 August 2026 and has never been given out |
The bottom of that ladder falls away fast. Of the people who reached 100 words, only about 13 in every 100 got to 500. From 1,000 words to 3,000 the number drops from nearly 100,000 people to under 7,000.
The top is where it gets strange. Six people have reached 100,000 words, and that badge has been available since March, so it is not simply new. Two people have 175,000.
The badge for 200,000 words was added on the fourteenth of August 2026 and has never been given to anyone. It is the only thing in this game that nobody has done. One fair caveat: the three badges above 100,000 were all added in August, so they have had far less time than the rest.

What You Can Buy
The shop is two items and comes to 798 Robux for the pair, which is tiny next to most games this size.

Neither one has a description on it, so nobody can tell you exactly what the VIP pass hands over. What can be said is that neither gives you words, and words are the only thing that wins a round.

Six named updates in five months is a fast pace for one developer. Not one of them came with a code, which is worth knowing before you go hunting for a list.
How Busy It Is Now
On a normal day this game runs somewhere over a thousand people at once, which sounds healthy and is. It is also nothing like what it was.
The busiest it has ever been was the twenty sixth of February 2026, when 58,133 people were in it at the same time. Its best day in the last month was 2,154. That is roughly one fortieth of the record.
The February peak landed two days after the first five badges were added, so the game was at its biggest almost exactly when it started keeping score.
What is left over is loyal. A visit lasts about 16 minutes, which is long for a party game, and about 92 in every 100 votes are likes. Fewer people, but the ones still there are sitting down for several rounds.
Who Makes Sambung Kata
It is made by a group called Bocchi Space, run by an account called Bocchi. Both carry the checkmark Roblox hands out, and the account behind it was only opened in July 2025.
The group holds about ten games and nine of them went nowhere. One has five visits, another has seven, several have none at all. There is a build called Tile Rush that reached 248 people and a test server that reached 195.
Sambung Kata was made two days after a place called Tes33, which is about as plainly named as a test can get. The fifth attempt in five weeks is the one that reached 58,000 players at once.
The last line of the game description credits another game, Last Letter, as the idea behind it. That game is older and bigger overall, but Sambung Kata currently has roughly twice as many people playing at any moment. It is rare for a developer to name what they built on in writing at all.
Codes and Scripts
There are no codes and no box to type one into. Our Sambung Kata codes page covers what pays instead.
Scripts are a different matter. Plenty exist and they work, which is exactly the problem. Our Sambung Kata script page explains why we hand none of them over.
Tips for New Sambung Kata Players
- Play a few rounds just watching if you do not read Indonesian. You will pick up the common endings faster than you expect.
- Reach for a word you have never used before. A repeat earns you nothing extra, and a first-timer goes into the Index for good.
- Learn two or three answers for the awkward last letters. That is what knocks people out, not a small vocabulary.
- Type fast and worry about clever later. The clock takes more players than a hard letter does.
- Do the daily jobs. They arrived with the August update and they reset, so they pay again tomorrow.
- Collect bamboo as you go. It buys accessories and costs nothing but playing time.
- Do not expect to buy your way up. Neither shop item gives you words, so the ladder cannot be paid for.
Sambung Kata FAQ
What language is Sambung Kata in?
Indonesian. The menus, the badge names and the words you type are all Indonesian, and the game’s own icon has the word Indonesia printed on it.
What is the Index?
Your personal dictionary. Every word you play for the first time is saved into it forever, and the bigger it gets the more money each round pays you.
How many badges are there?
Nineteen, and every one is for reaching a number of words in your Index. There is no badge for winning and none for joining.
Has anyone got the 200,000 word badge?
No. It was added on the fourteenth of August 2026 and has never been awarded. Six people have reached 100,000 words.
What does the shop sell?
Two things, 798 Robux for both. A VIP pass at 759 and a double experience pass at 39. Neither has a description on it.
Are there codes?
None, and there never have been. There is not even a box to enter one into.
How many people play it?
Usually over a thousand at once. Its record was 58,133 back in February 2026, so it is far quieter now than it was.
How long does a game last?
A visit averages about 16 minutes, which usually covers several rounds rather than one.
Is it a copy of another game?
The developer says so themselves. The last line of the description credits a game called Last Letter as the inspiration.
