“What are the best units in Anime Defenders, and which ones should you summon for?”
Last Updated: June 2026
Anime Defenders is one of the biggest anime tower defense games on Roblox, where you summon units based on popular anime characters and place them along the path to defend your base from waves of enemies.
There are hundreds of units across many rarities, and they are far from equal. The right units clear stages, raids, and bosses with ease, while weak ones let enemies slip right past your defense.
The short answer: Shadow Dragon, Divine Tyrant, and Dragon Mage sit at the very top right now, and Stage Diva is the farm unit almost every team wants.
New to the game? Our Anime Defenders wiki covers how to play, and the Anime Defenders codes page has free Gems to help you summon.
Below is the full tier list, ranked S to C, plus the best unit for each role and how to get them.
The Quick Answer
The strongest units in Anime Defenders right now are Shadow Dragon, Divine Tyrant, and Dragon Mage. Stage Diva is the best farm unit and fits in almost every team, Ice Dragon Queen and Demon King handle crowd control, and Radiant Monarch deals the best boss damage. If you are just starting, aim for Divine Tyrant or Flame Dragon God. Anime Defenders adds and reworks units in nearly every update and rotates its limited banner, so this is the current meta and changes often.
Anime Defenders Tier List (June 2026)
Here is the full tier list, from the best units down to the early-game ones. S tier units are the strongest carries, and C tier units are fine to start with but worth replacing as your roster grows.
S
Shadow Dragon, Divine Tyrant, Dragon Mage, Radiant Monarch (King of Dragons), Ice Dragon Queen, Poseidon (Sea Sovereign), Stage Diva, Demon King
The strongest units in the game right now. They carry almost any team through stages, raids, and bosses.
A
Flame Dragon God, Thunder God, Pink Rockstar, The Cursed Knight, Rift Sorcerer (Awakened), Grand Aether Knight, Sage (Deity), Solar Overlord
Excellent units that are just behind the very top. Any of these can anchor a strong team.
B
Celestial Qi Master, Shadow Master, Lunar Huntress, Solar Slayer, Crimson Demon Ninja, Water Grandmaster, Bear King (Unlocked), Elf Hero
Solid mid-game units. Great while you summon and reroll your way up to an S or A unit.
C
Aether Knight (Yuno), Radiant King, Gale Sage, Chance King, Hikari, Expert Sharpshooter, Lunar Empress, Dragon Wizard
Early-game and situational units. Fine when you are starting out, but swap them out as you grow.
Anime Defenders adds new units and reworks old ones in nearly every update, and the limited banner rotates meta units out, so the list moves fast. Tiers also assume a decent Trait and the right Element: a strong Trait or a good Element matchup can push an A tier unit above a poorly rolled S tier one. This list reflects the current June 2026 meta, so check back here after a major update.
A quick cheat sheet: the best unit depends on the role you need to fill. A balanced team mixes a carry, a control unit, and a farm unit.
Best Units by Role
Anime Defenders teams work best when you mix roles instead of stacking the same kind of unit. Here is the best pick for each job on your team.
| Team role |
Best units to use |
| Main DPS carry |
Shadow Dragon and Dragon Mage put out huge damage and buff the units placed around them. |
| Bosses and single target |
Divine Tyrant and Radiant Monarch melt tough single enemies and raid bosses fast. |
| AoE and wave clear |
Thunder God and Flame Dragon God hit whole groups with chain lightning and burn damage to stop swarms early. |
| Crowd control |
Ice Dragon Queen and Demon King freeze and slow waves so your carries have time to do their work. |
| Economy and support |
Stage Diva and Pink Rockstar boost your cash and buff the damage of every unit near them. |
| Best for beginners |
Divine Tyrant and Flame Dragon God are easier to reach and strong enough to carry the early stages. |
How to Get Units in Anime Defenders
You build your roster in a few ways. Here is how it works.
1
Summon on the banners
Spend Gems at the summon portal to roll for units. There are two banners: the standard one and a limited banner whose meta units leave for good when it ends, so summon for those before time runs out.
2
Match Elements to the stage
Every unit and enemy has one of twelve Elements. A strong matchup deals far more damage, so counter-picking the stage’s enemies is the easiest way to clear tough waves faster.
3
Reroll for better Traits
Each unit is born with one random Trait, and better Traits give bigger bonuses. Use Trait Crystals at the reroll station to chase a strong Trait, and only spend them on your best units.
4
Farm raids and challenges
Raids, challenges, and stages drop the Gems, Trait Crystals, and materials you need to summon more and upgrade your best units. Replay them to stock up.
5
Grab codes for free Gems
Active codes give free Gems and Trait Crystals so you can summon and reroll more often. See our Anime Defenders codes page for what is active now.
Tier List Tips
- Build a balanced team: one or two damage carries, a control unit to slow enemies, and a farm unit like Stage Diva for cash.
- Save your Gems for the limited banner. Its meta units leave for good once the banner rotates out.
- Match Elements to the stage. A strong Element matchup can clear a wall that raw damage cannot.
- Only reroll Traits on your best units. Trait Crystals are limited, so spend them on your S and A tier carries.
- Use codes for free Gems before a new banner so you get more summons.
