Appear Offline on Roblox
“Hide your online status and play without an audience.”
Last Updated: June 2026
Sometimes you just want to play Roblox in peace without friends seeing that you are online or which game you jumped into. The good news is that Roblox has privacy settings that let you hide exactly that.
Using the Online Status setting, you can choose who sees you as online, all the way down to no one. To most players you will simply look offline on your profile and in their friends lists.
There is one honest catch worth knowing up front. These settings do not turn you invisible inside a game you actually join, so anyone in that same server can still see and interact with your avatar.
Beyond your status, you can also lock down who is allowed to message you, join you, or chat with you, which makes for a much quieter session.
Well, here is how to set it all up on PC, mobile, and Xbox.
The Quick Answer
Open Settings then Privacy and set your Online Status to No one (or Friends). Turn off “Share my activity” and set “Who can see my current experience” to No one as well. Just remember this hides you on your profile and friends lists, but it does not make you invisible to people inside a game you join.
How to Hide Your Online Status
1
Open Settings and go to Privacy (PC)
On a computer, everything you need lives in the Privacy tab.
– Click the gear icon in the top-right corner and choose Settings
– Open the Privacy tab on the left
2
Set your Online Status to No one
This is the main switch that controls who sees you online.
– Find the Online Status section, shown in the screenshot above
– Set “Who can see me online?” to No one, or to Friends if you only want to hide from strangers
– Everyone outside that choice will now see you as offline
3
Lock down who can reach you
While you are in Privacy, tighten the interaction settings so people cannot ping you either.
– Set “Who can message me,” “Who can chat with me,” and “Who can join me” to No one or Friends
– This is also where you can manage voice chat if you want to keep that private too
4
Turn off activity sharing and hide your game
Two more options keep your current game under wraps.
– Switch off “Share my activity”
– Set “Who can see my current experience?” to No one so your game does not show on your profile
5
Appear offline on mobile
The phone and tablet app has the same controls in a slightly different place.
– Tap More in the bottom-right, then Settings
– Open Privacy and content restrictions, then Visibility and private servers
– Open Visibility, then set Online Status to No one or Friends
6
Appear offline on Xbox
On console, the cleanest way is the Xbox system setting rather than the Roblox app.
– Press the Xbox button and open your profile
– Choose Appear online, then switch it to Appear offline
This hides your activity across Xbox, including Roblox. If anything looks off afterwards, feel free to message us and we will help you sort it.
Appearing Offline FAQ
Can you appear offline on Roblox?
Yes. Set your Online Status to No one in Settings then Privacy, and other players will see you as offline on your profile and in their friends lists.
Does appearing offline hide what game I am playing?
It does once you turn off activity sharing and set “Who can see my current experience” to No one. Your friends will no longer see which experience you are in.
Can friends still see me if we are in the same game?
Yes. Appearing offline only hides your status on profiles and friends lists. Anyone inside a server you join can still see your avatar and interact with you normally.
Is there a true invisible mode in Roblox?
Not exactly. Setting Online Status to No one is the closest thing, but Roblox has no full ghost mode that hides you from players in the same experience.
Does appearing offline stop join requests?
It can. Set “Who can join me in experiences” to No one, and players will no longer be able to use the join button to drop into your game.
Does appearing offline log me out?
No. You stay logged in and can keep playing as normal. The setting only changes what other people see, not your own access.
Want the official details?
Roblox keeps a help article on Online Status and Visibility that lists every option as it rolls out. If a setting is missing on your account, update the app and check again, since these controls are still expanding.
