99 Nights in the Forest

Last Updated: July 2026  |  Verified this week

99 Nights in the Forest is a survival horror game by the verified group Grandma’s Favourite Games, and the whole idea fits in one line: build a camp with friends, because something is watching you. You chop wood by day, keep the campfire burning by night, and try to last 99 nights in a forest full of wolves, cultists, and a monster called The Deer. It is one of the biggest games on Roblox, with over 27 billion visits since it launched in March 2025.

Runs are tense but fair: every death teaches you something about the fire, the food, or the thing that got you. This wiki covers how a run works, the day and night loop, the animals and monsters, the gear worth grabbing, tips for your first nights, and a FAQ, with links to our codes, script, and full animals guide at the bottom.

How to Play 99 Nights in the Forest

  1. Set up camp. You spawn with an Old Axe and an Old Sack, and your first job is wood for the campfire.
  2. Explore while the sun is up. Loot chests, hunt animals for food and pelts, and mark where the good spots are.
  3. Feed the fire before dark. The campfire is your light and your safe zone, and the dark is where The Deer hunts.
  4. Hold the camp at night. Wolves prowl and cultists raid, so keep a weapon ready and patch teammates up fast.
  5. Rescue the four missing kids. Dino, Kraken, Squid, and Koala Kid are lost in the forest, and saving them boosts your rewards.
  6. Repeat for 99 nights. Each night gets harder, so upgrade your axe, your sack, and your weapons as you go.

99 Nights in the Forest Gameplay: Days, Nights and The Deer

The loop is a day and night rhythm. Daytime is for jobs: chopping trees, cooking food, looting chests, and hauling everything back to camp before the light fades. The further you push from camp, the better the loot gets, but the longer the walk home is, and getting caught out after sunset is how most runs end.

Night is the test. The forest goes dark, the threats come out, and the campfire becomes the only place that feels safe. These are the main dangers and how to handle them:

Threat What to Do
Wolves Common chasers. Fight them off and trade the pelts for gear
Bears and Polar Bears Heavy hitters. Bring a ranged weapon or run
Cultists They raid your camp at night and never despawn. Hold the fire line
The Deer The main monster. It cannot be killed, so stay in the light
The Owl and The Ram Other night monsters. Keep the campfire fed and stay close

For the complete roster with every animal ranked by danger level, plus which ones you can tame, see our 99 Nights in the Forest animals and items guide.

Gear, Traders and Taming

Gear upgrades carry a run. Your Old Axe needs 13 hits to fell a tree, a Good Axe needs 5, and a Strong Axe or Chainsaw turns wood into a non-issue. Bigger sacks raise your carry space from 5 items up to 25, and weapons like the revolver and rifle come from chests and trades. The Pelt Trader is the key NPC: bunny feet, wolf pelts, and bear pelts trade up to serious gear, so hunting pays.

You can even recruit the wildlife. Grab a Taming Flute from the Tool Trader, win a short balance minigame, and feed the animal what it asks for. Around a dozen animals can be tamed, from bunnies all the way up to bears and mammoths, and you can keep two pets at a time, or three with a Strong Flute. Classes add another layer: unlock them with Diamonds, and picks like the Lumberjack or Ranger start you with better gear.

Tips for New 99 Nights in the Forest Players

  • Stock more logs than you think you need before sunset. A dead campfire is a dead camp.
  • Do not fight The Deer. Stay in the light, stay quiet, and let it pass. It cannot be killed.
  • Upgrade your axe before anything else. Faster wood means more time for looting and hunting.
  • Save every pelt for the Pelt Trader. The trades scale up to some of the best gear in the game.
  • Split jobs with your squad. Servers hold 25 players, and a camp with wood runners, hunters, and a night watch lasts way longer.
  • Tame a wolf or a bear early. A pet that fights for you is a free bodyguard on night runs.

99 Nights in the Forest FAQ

What kind of game is 99 Nights in the Forest?

99 Nights in the Forest is a survival horror game on Roblox by the verified group Grandma’s Favourite Games. You build a camp with up to 24 other players, keep the campfire burning, rescue four missing kids, and try to survive 99 nights while monsters hunt you in the dark.

What is The Deer?

The Deer is the main monster, a towering deer creature that stalks players at night. It cannot be killed, so the game is about avoiding it: stay near light, keep the fire fed, and do not wander in the dark. Our animals and items guide covers every threat in the forest.

Can you tame animals in 99 Nights in the Forest?

Yes. Use a Taming Flute from the Tool Trader, win the balance minigame, and feed the animal the foods it asks for. Around a dozen animals are tameable, and tamed pets follow you and fight for you.

Does 99 Nights in the Forest have codes?

Sometimes. The developers drop codes around big updates and events, and they usually give Diamonds for class unlocks. Our 99 Nights in the Forest Codes page tracks the working list.

Is 99 Nights in the Forest scary?

It is tense more than gory. The forest is dark, the sound design is creepy, and The Deer showing up gets your heart going, but there is no blood-heavy horror. Most players would call it spooky campfire survival rather than a true horror game.
