The Resistance Tycoon is a zombie-themed tycoon game where you build up a base, fight off waves of undead enemies, and grind your way to a powerful setup. It mixes the classic drop-and-collect tycoon loop with some actual combat, which makes it feel a little different from your average button-mashing builder.
How the Game Actually Works
You start with a basic tycoon plot and drop cash on buttons to unlock new buildings, defenses, and gear. The money comes in automatically once your base is set up, but zombies will keep attacking and can slow things down if your defenses are weak. So you are balancing building speed with keeping your stuff protected at the same time.
The zombie waves are the main twist here. They ramp up over time, and if you ignore your defenses for too long, things can fall apart pretty fast. You can also grab weapons and fight the zombies yourself, which is a nice break from just watching numbers go up.
There are different tiers of buildings and upgrades to unlock as you progress. Getting to the later stuff takes a while, but each new unlock feels like a real step forward rather than just a cosmetic change.
What’s Worth Your Time and What’s Not
The combat element is genuinely fun and stops the game from feeling like a pure idle experience. Jumping in to fight zombies while your tycoon runs in the background keeps things moving. It is one of the better reasons to actually pay attention instead of just leaving your screen on.
That said, the early grind is slow. Getting enough cash to unlock the mid-tier defenses takes patience, and if you join a server with other players who are way ahead of you, it can feel a bit pointless. The game also has not seen a major update in a while, so the player count is on the smaller side these days.
It is still playable and has a solid core loop. But go in knowing it is more of a chill session game than something with a huge active community around it right now.
