Mad City: Chapter 2 is a cops-and-robbers open world game where you pick a side and cause chaos. You can rob banks, break out of prison, fly jets, drive supercars, or be the hero trying to stop it all. It’s one of those games that sounds simple but actually has a ton going on.
How Mad City Actually Works
You spawn in as either a prisoner, police officer, or criminal. Prisoners need to escape the jail first, then they can start robbing places like the bank, the jewelry store, or the power plant. Each heist has its own setup, and some of them need multiple players to pull off properly.
The criminal side is where most people spend their time. You earn cash from heists, then spend it on weapons, vehicles, and upgrades. There are superheroes and supervillains too, which adds a whole different layer. You can unlock powers like frost, plasma blasts, and flight if you grind long enough.
Police play completely differently. Your job is to arrest criminals in the act or chase them down across the map. It can actually be fun when there’s a real chase happening, but if the server is dead, you’re basically just standing around doing nothing.
What’s Fun and What’s Not
The vehicle selection is genuinely impressive. Jets, helicopters, motorcycles, muscle cars, and even some military-style vehicles are all in the game. Exploring the map and messing around with different rides is entertaining even when you’re not doing heists.
The grind is rough though. Unlocking the better cars and hero powers takes a serious amount of time, and the pay from heists isn’t always worth the effort. Some players camp the heist locations and ruin runs for everyone else, which gets old fast. The servers can also feel pretty empty compared to what they used to be, Mad City had a bigger player base a few years ago and it hasn’t fully bounced back.
Chapter 2 did bring some fresh updates and the map feels more alive than it used to. It’s not a dead game, but it’s not exactly packed either. If you jump in with friends it’s way more fun, solo play can drag depending on what server you land in.
