Cursed Blade

Last Updated: August 2026  |  Controls, badges, shop and player numbers checked against the live game.

Cursed Blade gives you a very large sword and no class to go with it. You pick nothing at the start. Instead you collect talents, buffs and curses as you fight, and the character you end up with is whatever you happened to find. There are more than a hundred talents in there, which is why no two players build the same thing.

It opened in January 2026 and about 97 in every 100 votes are likes, the highest score of any game we have written up. This page has the full control list for keyboard and controller, all six badges with how many players hold them, the two passes, and the one odd room the game ships that most players never notice.

How to Play Cursed Blade

  1. Join the ESSENTIAL RPG group first. It is free and it unlocks a chest that pays 500 coins a day.
  2. Load in and swing at the first monsters you see. Left mouse button on a computer, X on a controller.
  3. Learn the dash early. Shift on a keyboard, R2 on a controller, and it is the only way to get out of a big swing.
  4. Pick up every talent you are offered. You have no class, so talents are your whole build.
  5. Push for level 20. That is the first badge and where the game opens up.
  6. Watch your gear score, not just your level. It is the number that decides what you can survive.
  7. Use the idle room when you have to stop. Your character stays in the world while you are away.
  8. Keep an eye on the group page. The team ships updates every week and the game is still alpha.

Cursed Blade Controls on Keyboard and Controller

What you want to do Keyboard Controller
Swing your sword Left mouse button X
Dash and roll Shift R2
Free your mouse pointer Ctrl Not needed
First skill Q B
Second skill F Y
Third skill R L2

This game supports a controller properly, which is not common. The team published both lists on the game page itself.

The Ctrl key is the one people miss. Combat locks your mouse pointer to the middle of the screen, and Ctrl lets it go so you can click a menu.

Three skills sit on Q, F and R, or B, Y and L2 on a pad. Which skills those are depends on the talents you have picked up.

Cursed Blade Gameplay: Talents, Curses and Gear Score

The core loop is short. You fight, you get stronger, you fight bigger things.

What makes it different is that nothing is chosen for you. There are no fixed classes, so the same sword can end up as a fast dodging build or a slow heavy one depending on what you picked up.

Curses sit alongside buffs, and both are handed out at random. A curse is a real drawback, not a themed name for a bonus.

Gear score is the number that matters most later on. Level 80 is the top badge, but the rarest one in the game is a gear score of 100,000, and only 2,244 players have it.

Rounds are small. Fifteen players to a server and about nine and a half minutes in an average visit.

All Six Badges

Badge What it means Players who have it
First Blood You reached level 20 553,827
Shine Bright You put a gold look on your weapon 142,918
I Want to Be a Bunny You found the Carrot Sword 105,974
Even a Couch Potato Has Dreams You spent ten hours in the idle room 13,110
Peak You reached level 80 10,736
My Sword Never Fails Your gear score hit 100,000 2,244

All six were added in May 2026, four and a half months after the game opened. There is no badge for joining, so these counts cannot be turned into a share of everyone who has played.

What they can be measured against is each other. Of the 553,827 players who reached level 20, only 10,736 went on to level 80, which is about 1 in 52.

Then there is the one that stops you. More players have the ten hour idle badge, 13,110 of them, than have the level 80 badge.

The Carrot Sword is the other surprise. It is a joke weapon, and 105,974 players went and found it.

The Idle Room Nobody Mentions

This game is not one place. It is three, and one of them is called AFK.

It is a room built for going away. You leave your character standing in it, come back later, and the game rewards you for the time.

There is a badge for ten hours in there and 13,110 players hold it. That is more than hold the badge for finishing the level climb.

It tells you something about how the game is really played. A lot of people leave it running rather than sitting down to a session.

The Shop: Two Passes, 898 Robux

Pass Price What it does
EXP X2 599 Robux Doubles the experience you earn, so the level climb goes twice as fast
VIP 299 Robux The standard extras pass, and the cheaper of the two

That is the whole shop. Both passes went on sale in March 2026 and neither has been pulled since.

Look at what is not in it. No coin bundle, no sword, no crate, and nothing that hands you a level.

The shop sells you speed and nothing else, which is unusual for a game this size. It also explains why there are no Cursed Blade codes, because a code here would have nothing to give out.

Tips for New Cursed Blade Players

  1. Join the group before your first fight. The daily chest is 500 coins for pressing one button.
  2. Practise the dash on easy monsters. Nearly every death early on is a swing you could have rolled out of.
  3. Do not save your skills. Three of them sit on Q, F and R, and they come back quickly.
  4. Read a curse before you take it. Some of them cost you more than the buff next to them gives.
  5. Chase gear score once you pass level 20. Level alone will not keep you alive.
  6. Park in the idle room instead of leaving. It is what the room is there for.
  7. Check your in-game mail. The team sends gifts to players and they sit there until you claim them.

Cursed Blade FAQ

Are there any Cursed Blade codes?

No, and there is no code box in the game to type one into. Our Cursed Blade codes page has the three free routes that do pay out instead.

What class should I pick?

None, because the game has no classes. You build your character from the talents, buffs and curses you find while you fight.

How hard is level 80?

Hard. Of the 553,827 players who reached level 20, only 10,736 have the level 80 badge, which is about 1 in 52.

Does it work with a controller?

Yes, and properly. X swings, R2 dashes, and the three skills sit on B, Y and L2.

Can I get private servers?

No. They are switched off for this game, so every server is a public one with up to 15 players.

What is the AFK place for?

It is a separate room for leaving your character in while you are away, and there is a badge for spending ten hours there.

Is the game finished?

No. It is still labelled alpha and the group says it ships updates every week.

Are there Cursed Blade scripts?

Yes, several load. Our Cursed Blade script page has them, including one written in plain readable text.

About The Studio

ESSENTIAL RPG is a verified Roblox group with 1,352,668 members. Being verified means Roblox has checked who they are.

They have published three places and only one of them is a real game. The other two are a test server with 3,122 visits and an empty shell.

So this is not a studio churning out spinoffs. It is one team on one game, updating it every week since January.
