Roblox emotes are avatar animations like waving or dancing, triggered by an in-game menu or chat commands (e.g., /e dance). Some are free, others cost Robux, and you can equip up to eight with an R15 avatar.Â
Emotes only work with avatars using the R15 rig type (which includes Rthro avatars). If you’re rocking an older R6 avatar, unfortunately, emotes won’t be available to you.Â
Switching to R15 is easy in the Avatar Editor if you want to join the fun!

How to Use Emotes
There are two main ways to trigger emotes in Roblox:Â
Emote Menu:Â
In-game, you can open the emote menu (usually by clicking the emote icon or pressing a key like “B” on PC) and select from a list of equipped emotes. This is a quick and easy way to perform your favorite animations.
Chat Commands:Â
You can also type specific commands in the chat to activate emotes. For example:
/e dance – Makes your avatar bust a move.
/e wave – Gives a friendly wave to others.
/e point – Points in a direction.
/e cheer – Shows some enthusiastic support.
/e laugh – Lets out a chuckle.Â
These commands are case-sensitive, so make sure to type them exactly as shown!
