Last Updated: September 2026 | Every tool, every upgrade, all seven passes, and the two chapters the game page never mentions.
Search For The Needle is a farming game on Roblox where you dig through a giant haystack looking for one needle. You sell the hay you pull out, spend the money on better tools, and dig faster. It opened on 23 August 2026 and passed 6.3 million visits in its first two weeks.
The Roblox page calls it a chill cozy game about hay and lists three things to do. What is actually in there is two chapters, a farmhouse, a basement you escape with a key, and a UFO that over half a million people have found. This page has all of it.

How to Play Search For The Needle
A round is a loop of six steps, and the last one is the one almost nobody reaches.
- Walk up to the haystack and start picking hay by hand. Your bag holds a set amount and then you are full.
- Take the hay to the sell point and cash it in. That is where all your money comes from.
- Spend it at the barn shop. Buy a bigger bag first, because a bigger bag means fewer walks.
- Buy a real tool once you can afford one. A pitchfork clears far more hay per swing than a hand.
- Keep digging down. The needle is buried in the stack and it only shows once enough hay above it is gone.
- Hand the needle in when you find it. That is what scores the round and earns the badge.
Servers hold twenty players, so other people are working the same pile at the same time.
Search For The Needle Gameplay
There are five tools in this game and each one has its own upgrade list. You start with your hands and buy the rest.
| Tool |
How you get it |
What you can upgrade |
| Hand |
Free from the start |
Grab amount and speed |
| Pitchfork |
Bought in the barn shop |
Sweep size and cooldown |
| Dynamite |
Bought in the barn shop |
Blast power, cooldown and a lucky blast |
| Vacuum |
Bought in the barn shop |
Suction power, cooling and how long it runs |
| Hay Drone |
Bought in the barn shop |
Carry capacity, speed and grab range |
On top of the tools there are upgrades for the things you carry and earn. Bag size, carry capacity, how much each bale of hay sells for, and how much each gem is worth.
There are two currencies. Hay turns into cash and pays for everything in the barn. Gems are separate and rarer, and the shop sells a pass that doubles them.
The farm has more on it than a haystack. There is a farmer to talk to, a cow you can feed, and a barn shop building. The game page mentions none of them.
It also has two chapters rather than one. Chapter 1 is the farmhouse and Chapter 2 is a basement, and the way out of the basement is to find a key and escape.

The Passes Give Away How Rounds Really Work
Four passes have the word permanent in their name, and the wording underneath is the interesting part. One says the pitchfork unlocks automatically every round, including all its upgrades.
Read that backwards and it tells you the rule. Without the pass, your tools and every upgrade you bought for them are gone at the start of the next round. You buy them again from scratch.
Nothing on the Roblox page says that. The only place it is written down is in the shop, because the shop has to explain what it is selling.
The newest pass gives away something else. It is called Fast Rolls, which means there is a rolling mechanic in this game, and the game page has never mentioned one of those either.
Why this trick works anywhere
A studio can leave its game page vague, but it cannot leave a shop item vague or nobody buys it. The rules a game never explains are usually written out in full on the thing it is charging you for.
What 943 Robux Actually Buys Here
Add the seven passes together and the shop comes to 943 Robux. Sorted by what they do, the shape is unlike most farming games.

More than three quarters of the money here is not buying power. It is buying the right to keep what you already earned when the round ends.
The cheapest pass in the shop is the Gems one at 39 Robux, and it is the only one that keeps paying you a bit more every round you play.
And the last row is empty. There is nothing in this shop that changes how you look. No hats, no skins, no trails.
Only 28 in Every 100 Have Ever Found the Needle
The game hands out four badges, and because everyone gets the first one just by joining, the rest can be measured against it.

Badge is only a day old |
The needle is the whole point of the game and roughly 28 players in every 100 have ever found one. The studio wrote the badge description itself as if it were impossible.
The UFO is the real surprise. Nearly 18 in every 100 players have found a UFO in a game whose page is entirely about hay.
The fourth badge cannot be compared with the others yet. It was created on 5 September, so its count is only about a day of players rather than a fortnight.
One more number worth knowing. The joining badge went out 1,342,030 times in a single day against 3,207,948 all together, so roughly 42 in every 100 people who have ever played this game arrived yesterday.
Tips for New Search For The Needle Players
- Buy bag size before anything else. A bigger bag cuts the walking, and walking is where all your time goes early on.
- Get the pitchfork as soon as you can afford it. Hands clear a tiny amount per grab compared with a real tool.
- Do not buy a permanent pass until you know you like the game. They only pay off across many rounds.
- If you do buy one, the Gems pass is 39 Robux and it is the only one that compounds every round.
- Dig down in one spot rather than skimming the top. The needle sits under the pile, not on it.
- Go looking for the UFO and the basement. Two of the four badges are for things the game never tells you exist.
Search For The Needle FAQ
Is Search For The Needle free to play?
Yes. Joining costs nothing. The shop has seven passes adding up to 943 Robux and every one of them is optional.
Does Search For The Needle have codes?
No. There are no codes and the game has no box to type one into. Three pages exist that list this game’s codes and all three are empty.
Where is the needle?
It is buried inside the haystack, not sitting on top of it. You have to clear enough hay above it before it becomes visible, which is why a bigger tool matters so much.
Do you keep your tools between rounds?
Not unless you buy the pass for that tool. Four of the seven passes exist purely to keep a tool and its upgrades when the round ends.
What is the UFO?
A hidden thing somewhere in the game with its own badge. 582,793 players have found it, and the Roblox page never mentions it.
How many people play it?
It is one of the busiest new games on Roblox, with tens of thousands playing at once. Individual servers hold twenty players each.
Every number on this page came from the game’s own Roblox pages in September 2026. This game is two weeks old and growing fast, so the counts here will be out of date quickly. Prices are what the shop showed on the day we looked.
