How to Play NBA Champions Basketball
- Learn the shot bar before anything else. Every shot is scored out of 100 on screen, and a bad release misses.
- Play 5v5 first. It is the main mode and the one the game drops you into.
- Go to the park when you want a quick game. It runs 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3, and you build a streak there.
- Rebound and steal, do not just shoot. Both have their own badges and both raise your rating.
- Spend coins on crates. That is where the emotes, sounds and shot effects come from.
- Join the group before you try a code. Nothing redeems until you do.
- Come back during a real NBA event. The game runs its own version at the same time.
NBA Champions Basketball Gameplay: Shots, Ratings and Crates
Everything here runs off one bar. You hold to shoot, the bar fills, you let go, and the game grades your timing as a percentage in front of everybody.
Doing that well raises your Overall rating, which is the number that says how good your player is. It is also the only thing in the game that goes up, and the badges below track it.
On top of the basketball sits a collecting game. Coins buy crates, crates hold emotes, sounds and shot effects, and there is a trade hub where players swap them.
One thing worth knowing before you plan a session. Private servers are switched off, so you cannot rent a court for you and your friends alone.

Both of the top two are switched on and waiting. One asks you to finish the tutorial and the other asks you to be the best player in a match, and in eleven months neither has gone to a single person.
The likeliest reason is that the game never actually hands them out, rather than that 16 million people all failed the tutorial. Either way they are sitting there on the list.
The third one is real and brutal. Landing 10,000 perfect shots has been done by 34 players.

The buzzer beater is the surprise. Nearly 3.7 million players have scored with under a second left, which makes it more common than winning your first game.
Defence is where people stop. Twenty rebounds has been done by about 4 players in every 100, and blocking 25 shots by fewer than 1 in 300.
The Shop, And The 48 Things You Missed
Fifty items have been put up for sale in this game. Two of them are still there: a jersey editor at 399 Robux and a no shirt option at 299.
The other 48 have been retired. Almost all of them were real team mascots, and a run of them went off sale on the same day in July.
The rest were seasonal. There was a yeti in winter, a leprechaun in March, a bunny at Easter, a liberty set in June and a dinosaur that came with its own goal effect.
One group tells you something about the free game. There were passes for expanded inventory and then unlimited inventory, which means the space you get for free has a limit.
Seasons And Events
This game follows the real basketball year, and it says so in its own name. The title on Roblox changes when something is on.
It read ALL STAR in late February, PLAYOFFS through late April and FINALS in the first week of June. Those are the same weeks the real league runs them.
The busiest the game has ever been was 15,089 players at once on 6 June 2026, right in the middle of its finals.
It was on season five by the middle of May, which works out at a new season roughly every six weeks since it opened.
