Block Tales is a turn-based RPG on Roblox inspired by Paper Mario and Earthbound. You play as a hero who battles through a story split into chapters. Fights are not about mashing buttons. You press at just the right moment to hit harder or to block, so timing is everything. It is a fun mix of a real adventure and a skill based battle game.
There is a full story to work through here, from a quiet start all the way to big boss fights. Along the way you collect cards for boosts, save up money, and unlock new swords. This page covers how the game works, what a turn-based RPG even is, the chapters and their rewards, the badges to chase, and simple tips to help you win.

How to Play Block Tales
There is no long tutorial, so here is the short version. You start at the prologue and battle your way through the story. Everything after that is about winning fights and getting stronger.
- Join the game and start from the prologue, the first part of the story.
- Walk around, talk to characters, and take on the enemies you meet.
- In a battle, pick attack, then press the button right as your hit lands for extra damage.
- When an enemy attacks, press block just before it hits to take less damage.
- Win fights to earn money and cards, then equip cards for boosts.
- Beat each chapter’s boss to earn a new sword and push the story along.
Block Tales Gameplay Explained
The battles are the heart of Block Tales, and they run on timing. When you attack, a little prompt shows up, and pressing the button right as your hit lands adds extra damage. Miss the timing and your hit is weaker. So every turn is a small skill test, not just a menu pick.
Defense works the same way. When an enemy swings at you, pressing block just before it lands cuts the damage. If you nail a perfect block at the exact moment, you can take zero damage and even bounce some back. There is a training dummy to practice on, and getting good at blocking is what carries you through the tough boss fights.
What Is a Turn-Based RPG?
If you have not played one before, here is the idea. In a turn-based RPG, you and the enemy take turns instead of fighting all at once. On your turn you pick a move, like attack or use an item, and then the enemy takes its turn. It gives you time to think, which makes a fight feel more like a puzzle than a button masher.
Block Tales adds a twist from Paper Mario. Even though it is turn-based, timing still matters, since a well-timed press makes your attacks and blocks much stronger. That mix of thinking and timing is what makes the game click. It is easy to learn but has real depth once you dig in.
Block Tales Chapters and Swords
The story is split into a prologue and five full chapters, each in its own themed area. Beating a chapter rewards you with a new sword to fight with. Here is the full list of chapters and the sword each one gives.

Not out yet |
A sixth chapter is confirmed and on the way, but it is not out yet. That is why the badge for finishing chapter six has been earned by zero players so far. Once it drops, it will be the newest thing to beat.
Cards, Ticks, and Bux in Block Tales
As you play, you collect cards. Cards are like little badges you slot in for a boost, such as more damage, healing when you hit, or cheaper special moves. You get card points as you level up, and the more points you have, the more cards you can wear at once. Picking the right cards for your style is a big part of getting strong.
You also earn two kinds of money. Ticks are the main one, dropped by enemies and quests, and you use them for most things. Bux are rarer and used to buy the fancy high-end cards from a shady shop character. Neither one needs a code, you just earn them by playing.
Block Tales Badges Explained
Block Tales has 65 badges to collect, and since the only pass you can buy is a tip jar that does nothing, the badges are the real thing to chase. Some track the story, some track bosses, and some track how much money you have saved. The money badges make a neat little ladder, from your first savings all the way to being super rich. Here is that ladder, from the most common to the rarest.
| Money Badge |
Players Who Earned It |
How Rare It Is |
| Humble Beginnings |
13.3 million |
Everyone gets this when they start playing |
| Wealthy |
About 2.1 million |
1 in 6 players. For saving up a nice pile of money |
| Big Bux |
About 1.1 million |
1 in 12 players. For getting even richer |
| Mega Bux |
About 679,000 |
1 in 20 players. A big money milestone |
| Giga Bux |
About 441,000 |
1 in 30 players. For the serious savers |
| Ultra Bux |
About 251,000 |
1 in 53 players. The top money badge |
The rarest money badge is Ultra Bux, earned by about 1 in 53 players. The single rarest badge in the whole game is the one for finishing chapter six, which nobody has yet because that chapter is not out. The deep boss and story badges are close behind, so there is always something rare to aim for.
Tips for New Block Tales Players
- Practice blocking on the training dummy. A good block saves you in every fight.
- Time your attack press right as the hit lands to deal bonus damage.
- Equip cards that fit your style, like extra damage or healing.
- Save your Bux for the strong high-end cards, not the cheap stuff.
- Learn each boss’s moves, since knowing when to block is half the battle.
- Explore every area to find secret weapons and hidden fights.
Block Tales FAQ
What do you do in Block Tales?
You play as a hero in a turn-based RPG, battling through a story told in chapters. Fights use timed button presses to attack harder and block damage. You also collect cards, beat bosses, and unlock new swords along the way.
Does Block Tales have codes?
No. The game does not have a code system yet, so there is nothing to redeem. Watch out for pages that show codes, since most are really for a different game called Block Tales Tower Defense. Our codes page has the honest details.
How many chapters are there?
There is a prologue and five full chapters right now, each with its own area and a sword reward. A sixth chapter is confirmed and on the way. Nobody has the finish chapter six badge yet because it is not out.
What are cards in Block Tales?
Cards are like badges you equip for a boost, such as more damage or healing when you hit. You unlock more card slots as you level up. Building a good card setup is a big part of getting stronger.
Is Block Tales pay to win?
No. The game is free, and the only pass you can buy is a tip jar that gives nothing back in the game. Everything you get comes from playing, so no one can pay their way to being stronger.
Is Block Tales hard?
It can be, since the battles need good timing and the bosses hit hard. But there is a training dummy to practice on, and it starts easy. Once you get the hang of blocking, it feels fair and fun.
