Anime Rangers X is the anime crossover tower defense game where you summon units based on popular anime characters, place them along a path, and let them fight off waves of enemies automatically.
The game went through a big shakeup in 2026. It was rebranded from Anime Rangers X to Re:Rangers X, moved to a fresh place, and the developers ran a full progress reset (players who already owned Game Passes got to keep them). It is still growing fast, with over 1,500 people playing at the same time and a content update landing the same day this guide was written.
Because new units keep shipping so quickly, tier lists go stale fast. We checked three different tracking sites published across March, June, and July 2026 and found real disagreement about which units are actually the best right now.

The Quick Answer
Crimson Owl and Virtual Swordsman (Stardust) are the safest S-tier picks, since both have stayed at the top across every tracker we checked no matter the publish date. Newer units like Jane Bullet, Silver Reaper, and The Strongest are also ranked S-tier on the most current lists. Older favorites like Solar Fist, Eclipse Sorcerer, and Legendary Saiyan are still good, but have settled into A or B tier as fresh units released.
How the Unit System Works
Before the tier board, here is a quick refresher on what you are actually ranking. Every placement below is about how a unit performs once it is built up, not just its starting stats.

Summon a unit. Use in-game currency or premium currency to pull from the summon pool. Rarer units cost more but tend to hit harder.

Place it on the map. Each unit has a range and a role, so team composition matters just as much as which single unit you pull.

Upgrade and evolve it. Feeding resources into a unit raises its level, and some units unlock stronger evolved forms once you invest enough.

Why tier lists disagree so much right now
We checked three tracking sites publishing at different times in 2026. The most recent one lists an S-tier almost entirely made up of newer units like Jane Bullet, Silver Reaper, and The Strongest. Two older lists, published in March and June, instead put units like Solar Fist, Legendary Saiyan, Oldfang Reaver, and Limitless Sorcerer at the very top.
Only two names showed up as S-tier on every single list we checked regardless of when it was published: Crimson Owl and Virtual Swordsman (Stardust). Treat those two as the safest picks, and treat the rest of the S-tier as a snapshot that will likely shift again the next time new units release.
