The Strongest Battlegrounds Tier List
“Which moveset actually wins fights, and which one is worth the grind?”
Last Updated: July 2026
The Strongest Battlegrounds (also called TSB or SBG) is a One-Punch-Man-inspired PvP fighting game with over 18 billion visits. You pick a moveset, drop into an open arena, and fight real players using blocks, dodges, counters, and combo strings.
There is no gacha here. Every free moveset is unlocked by leveling up through real fights, which means picking the wrong one to main can cost you hours of grinding for nothing.
This ranking leans on the most recently updated community tier list available, cross-checked against a second recent source, instead of copying a ladder from last year that no longer matches the current balance.
New here? Our The Strongest Battlegrounds wiki covers the basics, and the The Strongest Battlegrounds codes page has the free spins and emotes.
Here is the current moveset ladder, the best pick for every playstyle, and how the unlock system actually works.
The Quick Answer
The two movesets every current tier list agrees belong at the top are Saitama (The Strongest Hero) and Garou (Hero Hunter), and both are free to unlock through normal play. Sorcerer is also considered elite, sometimes the single best moveset in the game, but it needs the Private Server+ gamepass and only works in private servers. Behind them, Genos, Suiryu, and Child Emperor round out a strong free A-tier. Everything past the top two swings a lot depending on which list you check, so treat the middle of the ladder as a starting point, not gospel.
The Strongest Battlegrounds Tier List
The ladder below follows the community meta as of July 2026, across 13 total movesets. Four of them are gated behind a gamepass, a gift, or a boss fight, so this page tells you which is which instead of pretending everyone has equal access.
S
Saitama (The Strongest Hero), Garou (Hero Hunter), Sorcerer
The only two everyone agrees on, plus the one moveset that beats them when you can actually use it. Saitama is deceptively simple, a handful of normal punches that still hit like a truck at max level, while Garou pairs heavy damage with the Prey’s Peril counter that punishes anyone throwing wild combos. Sorcerer plays like a near-invincible zoner and tops several trackers outright, but it needs the Private Server+ gamepass and only works inside private servers.
A
Suiryu (Martial Artist), Genos (Destructive Cyborg), Child Emperor (Tech Prodigy), KJ
Strong all-around movesets that land near the top of most current lists. Genos leans on ranged incineration pressure, Suiryu is a relentless close-range grappler, and Child Emperor’s gadget kit rewards precise play over button-mashing. KJ sits here too, though it is a moveset gifted by the developers or top donors, not something you can grind toward.
B
Speed-o’-Sound Sonic (Deadly Ninja), Atomic Samurai (Blade Master)
Solid, fully free movesets that need real practice to shine. Sonic’s dash-heavy ninja kit has one of the highest skill ceilings in the game, and Atomic Samurai’s Split Second Counter rewards players who read their opponent instead of mashing attacks.
C
Tatsumaki (Wild Psychic), Metal Bat (Brutal Demon)
The community ranks these lowest right now, which is more about being outclassed by the top of the ladder than being weak on their own. Wild Psychic’s telekinesis kit is genuinely fun in the right hands, and Brutal Demon still wins plenty of matches against players who have not unlocked the meta yet.
Why The Strongest Battlegrounds tier lists disagree so much. Three things throw people off here. First, the cast is small, just 13 movesets total, so unlike a game with hundreds of units, every single ranking swings the whole list instead of getting lost in the noise. Second, four of the movesets are gated behind a gamepass, a developer gift, or a boss fight, and trackers disagree about whether to rank something most players cannot even use.
Third, TSB patches its balance often, and some tier pages online have not been touched in over a year. The only pick every source agrees on is Saitama and Garou at the top. This page leans on the most recently updated community breakdown and flags disagreement everywhere else.
How unlocking and gating actually work
There is no summon banner in The Strongest Battlegrounds. You earn EXP by fighting and winning matches, level up, and the free movesets unlock one at a time as your level climbs. All 9 of the starter roster, including Saitama and Garou, work this way.
The other 4 are not something a normal grind can reach. Sorcerer requires the Private Server+ gamepass and only works inside private servers. KJ is a gift from the developers or top donors, not purchasable or earnable. The Frozen Soul is a private-server exclusive. And Crab Boss unlocks only by defeating it as an event boss, and is not currently obtainable in public servers. Treat all four as bonus goals, not part of your starting plan.
Green rows are free through normal play. The gold row needs a gamepass.
Best Moveset by Playstyle
| Playstyle |
Best movesets |
Why |
| Overall best |
Saitama (The Strongest Hero), Garou (Hero Hunter) |
The only two picks every current list agrees on, and both are free to unlock through normal play. |
| Counter and punish |
Garou (Hero Hunter), Atomic Samurai (Blade Master) |
Both lean on a signature counter, Prey’s Peril and Split Second Counter, that reads an opponent’s attack instead of trading hits. |
| Ranged pressure |
Genos (Destructive Cyborg), Tatsumaki (Wild Psychic) |
Genos brings incineration attacks and Tatsumaki leans on telekinesis, so both can fight from a distance instead of trading punches up close. |
| Rushdown combos |
Suiryu (Martial Artist), Metal Bat (Brutal Demon) |
Aggressive, close-range kits that string combos together and keep the pressure on before an opponent can reset. |
| If you have Private Server+ |
Sorcerer |
Widely considered the single strongest moveset in the game, a near-invincible zoning kit, but it only works inside private servers. |
How to Unlock New Movesets
1
Fight and win matches. EXP comes from playing, not purchases. Every free moveset is a leveling reward, not a summon.
2
Focus one moveset at a time. Spreading your playtime thin across the roster just delays every unlock. Pick a lane and grind it out.
4
Learn block and counter timing before you switch mains. Fundamentals carry more weight than moveset choice at low levels, no matter which tier a character sits in.
5
Chase the gated exclusives last. Sorcerer needs Private Server+, KJ is a developer gift, Frozen Soul is private-server only, and Crab Boss only drops after a boss fight. Treat these as long-term goals.
Tips for Winning More Fights
- Block first, punish second. Most losses come from trading hits instead of waiting for an opening.
- Learn one counter move well before you try to combo. A clean read beats a flashy string.
- Do not chase Sorcerer or KJ as a beginner goal. Master a free S or A-tier moveset first.
- Redeem new codes the day they drop on the codes page, since some expire fast.
- Use an alt or a private lobby to practice combos against a friend before taking a new moveset into ranked.
The Strongest Battlegrounds Tier List FAQ
What is the best character in The Strongest Battlegrounds?
Saitama (The Strongest Hero) and Garou (Hero Hunter) are the only two movesets every current tier list agrees belong at the top, and both are free through normal leveling. Sorcerer is also considered elite, sometimes ranked above both, but it needs the Private Server+ gamepass.
What is Sorcerer and why is it locked?
Sorcerer is a near-invincible, Gojo-style zoning moveset that tops several community rankings. It only works inside private servers and requires the Private Server+ gamepass, so it is not something a free-to-play grind can reach.
How do I unlock new movesets?
By fighting. There is no gacha or summon system, you earn EXP from matches, level up, and the 9 free movesets unlock one at a time as you climb. Codes give free spins and emotes, not new characters.
Is Crab Boss playable?
Only if you defeat it as an event boss, and as of July 2026 it is not currently obtainable in public servers. Do not plan around unlocking it any time soon.
Why do tier lists for this game disagree so much?
The cast is small, just 13 movesets, so a single re-ranking swings the whole list. Four movesets are gated behind extra requirements, and TSB patches its balance often, so older lists go stale fast. The one thing every source agrees on is Saitama and Garou at the top.
Does The Strongest Battlegrounds have codes?
Yes. Codes hand out free spins and emotes rather than movesets. Check our The Strongest Battlegrounds codes page for the current working list.
