All Star Tower Defense Tier List
“Which units are worth your gems, and who actually carries Infinite mode?”
Last Updated: July 2026
All Star Tower Defense is one of the original anime tower defense giants on Roblox, running since 2020 with nearly 8 billion visits. You summon units from the gate, place them along the path, and upgrade them mid-battle to hold off waves in story mode and the Infinite tower.
The summon gate rotates its banner every hour, units run from 3 stars up to 7, and the best ones evolve into far stronger forms. That is a lot of gacha between you and a great team, which is where a tier list saves your gems.
This ranking follows the community meta for the original All Star Tower Defense, tested in the endgame Infinite mode where unit strength really shows.
New to the game? Our All Star Tower Defense wiki covers the basics, and the All Star Tower Defense codes page is your free gem supply.
Here is the current unit ladder, the best picks for each job, and how to build toward the meta.
The Quick Answer
The best units in All Star Tower Defense right now are The Strongest In History, the game’s boss-melting rupture king, and Buddha Chairman (Serious), the newest meta nuke. Alongside them sit Legendary Leader (Path), Mysterious X (Final), Ant King (Awakened), and Vegu (Ego Ascension). Every serious loadout also runs Jeff (CEO) for money and a support like Lucci (Heaven) or Devil. Gems come mostly from codes, so stock up before you summon.
All Star Tower Defense Tier List
The ladder below follows the community meta as of July 2026, judged on endgame Infinite runs. ASTD has hundreds of units, so each tier lists the standouts rather than every name.
S
The Strongest In History, Buddha Chairman (Serious), Legendary Leader (Path), Mysterious X (Final), Ant King (Awakened), Kosuke (SS), Vegu (Ego Ascension), Koku (Instinctive)
The meta. These units anchor endgame Infinite runs, with The Strongest In History melting bosses through rupture damage and Buddha Chairman, the newest addition, nuking whole waves. Add farm king Jeff (CEO) and support gods Lucci (Heaven) and Devil to round out a meta loadout.
A
Ruffy (5th Form), Joe Kid, Star King, Witch Betrayer, Heavenly Duo, Zaruto (SS), Jujutsu Master, Crimson Boar (True), Flare Lord (Serious), Evil Shade (Final)
Near-meta picks that clear everything in the game. They slot straight into meta teams as substitutes, and buffers like Crimson Boar make the S units hit even harder.
B
Chain Avenger (Enraged), Tatsu (Rainbow Flames), Sorcerer Evil, Organs (Berserker), 4-Eye Sorcerer (Timer), Ultimate Patriot, Legendary Muge, Boo (Kid)
Good, viable units. They carry story mode and casual Infinite lobbies fine, and the damage-over-time picks like Chain Avenger and Tatsu still shine on the right map.
C
Older 3 to 5 star units and un-evolved base forms
The starter pool. Fine while you learn placements and save gems, and exactly what you replace once your first 6 star lands from the summon gate.
Heads up: this is the ORIGINAL All Star Tower Defense. There is a separate spinoff called All Star Tower Defense X with its own units and its own meta, and mixing up the two games’ tier lists is the most common mistake in ASTD searches. Everything on this page is for the original game, which is still the one getting updates. Rankings shift when new units and evolutions drop, so check back after a big patch.
How summons, stars and traits work
Units come from the summon gate, which rotates its banner every hour, so a meta unit you missed usually cycles back. Rarity runs from 3 stars up to 7, and the top units evolve into the forms you see in the S tier, using materials from story, raids, and events. Traits add another layer: rerolling a trait onto a damage unit can multiply its output, which is why a well-traited A-tier unit sometimes outfarms a bare S-tier one. Farm units are their own slot, and Jeff (CEO) is the best money maker in the game, though only one can be placed per match.
Green rows are realistic early goals. Gold rows are the endgame chase.
Best Units by What You Do
| What you do |
Best units |
Why |
| Money farming |
Jeff (CEO), Octo The Greedy |
Jeff is the best money maker in the game, and Octo stores cash for one big payout when you need an expensive placement. |
| Boss melting |
The Strongest In History, Kosuke (SS), Ant King (Awakened) |
Rupture and damage-over-time stacking deletes bosses faster than raw hits. |
| Wave-clear nukes |
Buddha Chairman (Serious), Vegu (Ego Ascension), Koku (Instinctive) |
Their abilities wipe whole waves at once, which is what late Infinite rounds demand. |
| Support and stalls |
Lucci (Heaven), Devil, Mysterious X (Final) |
Time stops, map-wide resets, and damage amplification turn losing runs into clears. |
| Just starting out |
Ultimate Patriot, Boo (Kid), any story 5 star |
Cheap, easy to place, and strong enough to carry story mode while you save gems. |
How to Get Better Units
1
Stock up on gems first. Codes are the biggest free gem source, so redeem everything on our All Star Tower Defense codes page before you touch the summon gate.
2
Watch the hourly banner. The summon gate rotates every hour. Do not dump gems on a filler banner when the unit you want cycles in later.
3
Push story mode for materials. Story clears fund your gems and drop the evolution materials the S-tier forms need.
4
Evolve one carry before collecting more. A single evolved meta unit beats a bench of base forms. Focus your materials.
5
Reroll traits on your carry. A strong trait can multiply a unit’s damage, and it is often the cheapest power jump in the game.
Tips for Climbing Infinite Mode
- Always place Jeff (CEO) first. Money early in the run snowballs into a full board later.
- Mix damage types. A rupture boss killer, an AoE nuke, and a support beat three copies of the same job.
- Save your time stops for boss overlaps, not the first scary wave.
- Redeem new codes the day they drop on the codes page, since gem codes expire.
- Team up. Servers support squads, and shared boards mean shared money and cover for weak spots.
All Star Tower Defense Tier List FAQ
What is the best unit in All Star Tower Defense?
The Strongest In History is the top damage pick, melting bosses with rupture, and Buddha Chairman (Serious) is the newest meta nuke. Legendary Leader (Path), Mysterious X (Final), and Vegu (Ego Ascension) round out the top of the meta.
What is the best farm unit?
Jeff (CEO) is the best money maker in the game, though you can only place one and he cannot be sold. Octo The Greedy is the other meta farm pick, storing money in his repository for one big cash-out.
Is this tier list for ASTD or ASTD X?
The original All Star Tower Defense. ASTD X is a separate spinoff with different units and a different meta, so its rankings do not apply here.
How do I get gems fast?
Codes, story clears, and daily rewards. Our All Star Tower Defense codes page keeps the working gem codes, and they are worth redeeming the day they appear.
What are traits?
Traits are bonus effects you reroll onto a unit, and the good ones multiply damage or money output. A great trait on an A-tier unit can outperform a bare S-tier unit, so trait your main carry first.
Is All Star Tower Defense still updated?
Yes. The original game got an update as recently as June 2026, and new units and evolutions keep shifting the meta, so treat this ladder as the current snapshot and check back after big patches.
