BEAR (Alpha) is a hide-and-seek horror game where one player turns into a giant bear and hunts everyone else down. Simple idea, genuinely scary when you’re the one being chased. It’s been around for years and still pulls in players who want something tense and different from the usual Roblox stuff.
How the Game Actually Works
Each round, one player gets picked to be Bear. Their job is to find and eliminate every other player on the map before the timer runs out. Everyone else has to survive, hide, and outlast the hunt. It sounds simple but the maps are designed to keep you paranoid, full of tight corridors and spots where Bear can appear out of nowhere.
Survivors aren’t totally helpless though. You can pick up items scattered around the map to slow Bear down or create distractions. There are also different Bear skins with slightly different abilities, so matches don’t always play out the same way. Some Bears are faster, some have tricks up their sleeve, and learning each one matters.
The game uses a coin system too. You earn coins by surviving rounds or getting kills as Bear, then spend them on new skins and cosmetics. It gives you something to grind toward even if you’re not winning every match.
What’s Fun and What Gets Old
The tension in this game is real. Being chased by Bear with five seconds left on the clock and nowhere to go is the kind of moment you actually remember. The variety of maps keeps things fresh, and playing as Bear is genuinely satisfying when you track someone down. It scratches that horror game itch without being over the top.
That said, the game is still in Alpha, and it shows. Updates have slowed down a lot, and the player population has dropped compared to its peak. You might sit in a lobby waiting longer than you’d like, especially in off-peak hours. Some bugs have stuck around forever too, which gets frustrating fast.
Grinding coins for the better skins takes a while, and if you keep getting eliminated early as a survivor, progress feels painfully slow. It’s not a dead game, but it’s also not at its prime. If you find a full lobby though, it’s still one of the more fun asymmetric games on Roblox.
